After weeks of worry, speculation, and emotional interviews, Chicago Fire fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief regarding Taylor Kinney and the future of Kelly Severide.
New details emerging from the production of Season 14 have confirmed that Kinney is not leaving the show and will remain a series regular heading into Season 15.
According to reliable sources close to the show, Taylor Kinney has signed a new contract that will keep him on Chicago Fire for at least one more full season. While he successfully negotiated a slightly lighter filming schedule to accommodate his new role as a father, Severide is expected to stay very much at the center of Firehouse 51.
Kinney recently addressed the rumors himself in a short but reassuring statement:
“I know there was a lot of concern after I said I needed a change. What I meant was that I needed better balance in my life — not that I was done with Severide or the show. This character and this family mean too much to me. I’m happy to say I’ll be sticking around.”
