For Iain Armitage, the Young Sheldon finale was certainly bitter sweet. Although it was heartbreaking to watch the show end, he did have the perk of watching Mayim Bialik and Jim Parsons reunite together for an iconic scene.
In the following, we are going to reveal the observations made by the young actor behind the scenes, watching Mayim and Jim reunite. We will also take a look at how Armitage felt about Young Sheldon coming to an end, and why he wanted to see the show continue on.
Fans will also get a sneak peek at Jim’s thoughts on reuniting with Mayim Bialik, and why he was blown away by her efforts in Young Sheldon’s final episode.
Iain Armitage Loved How Jim Parsons And Mayim Bialik Effortlessly Picked Up On One Another’s Cues
Saying goodbye to Young Sheldon was a difficult process for both Iain Armitage and Annie Potts. However, especially in the finale, both stars were in for a treat, getting to watch Jim Parsons act alongside Mayim Bialik. Big Bang Theory fans don’t need to be reminded of the iconic chemistry between the two. Iain Armitage made observations of his own watching the two stars reunite on-set.
He tells Variety, “It was incredible. It felt like a reunion, getting to see them back together. They know each other so well and act so well together. They knew each other’s cues, which was wonderful to see. I think Mister Jim and Miss Mayim both quite enjoyed it, so that’s nice.”
Armitage adds about Parsons, “It was definitely surreal. I think it was weird and cool and interesting. He said that in a good way, he felt like a guest on our set. I was happy that it didn’t feel too weird or out of the ordinary for him. That’s all I can ask for.”
Armitage learned a lot throughout the years working alongside Jim Parsons.
What were the biggest lessons he learned from Jim?
- The accent and how he looks at the world.
- “Mostly, just teaching me how to do the accent and the way Sheldon looks at the world. Saying that Sheldon seeks order and has a hard time with social interaction, how it can sort of be disordered.”
An experience the Young Sheldon star certainly won’t forget.

Iain Armitage Admits He Wasn’t Ready To End Young Sheldon
Armitage started on the show back in 2017. At that point, The Big Bang Theory was still going strong. Not only did Young Sheldon continue after TBBT ended, but the show was able to score massive syndication deals. Armitage’s 141 episodes on the show will last a lifetime, it seems.
Despite the show’s impact, Armitage admits saying goodbye was not an easy process, especially given that he felt like there was still a lot more to uncover about Sheldon.
“It’s also just hard in a really weird way that I can only really see if I step back and try and take a global view, which is hard. I mean, I’m not going to get to see Annie Potts every day. This is a real loss for me. More than anyone. I definitely think we could have done a lot more.”
What did co-star Annie Potts say about Young Sheldon ending?
- “This one was especially hard because I was completely unprepared. I was shocked. I mean, the No. 1 show on network TV, No. 1 on Netflix. We’re, I think, all that people watch on TikTok besides a couple of recipes for pasta,” she tells Variety.
- “It just seemed like such a stupid business move. Forgive me, but I don’t know. If a show is starting to drag or lag or have a lack of stories or whatever, then you kind of see it coming. We were totally ambushed by this. I was, anyway.”
Potts’ sentiments were very relatable, especially with the fans
It was deemed that Young Sheldon couldn’t push storylines any further. Therefore, Chuck Lorre made the decision to end the series at a high.
Jim Parsons Admits Filming The Young Sheldon Finale “Felt Different”
Jim Parsons called his revival of Sheldon “beautiful,” but it came with challenges behind the scenes. In the end, Parsons was especially excited given that he got to reunite with Mayim Bialik.
He tells ET, “It was even more beautiful than I expected it to be,” Parsons said. “One of the reasons I was excited to do it is because what they wrote is so sweet and I think they worked Mayim [Bialik] and I into that show so beautifully. I hope everyone agrees.”
“But also for us the way that they tape — because they’re a single-camera show and we’re multicamera — the whole look of the show was a really special experience. To get to go with Mayim, in a world we’re really guests and revisit these characters a little older, just a completely different circumstance.”
Although it felt different, Jim loved the outcome, “We’re older and we haven’t seen these people,” Parsons added. “It just felt different, but it felt really, really sweet.”
How did Jim Parsons feel about Mayim’s performance, reprising her role as Amy?
- “We just went in and felt around the set, and Mayim nailed it when she walked back and said, ‘Uh, I thought I’d feel a lot more confident than this.’ I said, ‘Me, too,’” Parsons recalled. “I really thought it’d be like putting on a pair of old shoes and then eventually it was, but not for about an hour or so. And I was like, ‘Do I still know how to talk like this?’ It was weird.”
A great moment between the two and one the fans had a blast with.
