Jamie Dornan says there were moments that all he was wearing was a “flesh-colored bag” on set.
The Fifty Shades of Grey sex scenes don’t seem all that sexy when Jamie Dornan starts talking about what he had to endure to film such vulnerable moments.
Though Dornan did not go full frontal for the movie, he tells GQ UK magazine that it was still a little embarrassing to shoot the S&M scenes on set. “Your dignity is intact as much as it’s all tucked away in a little flesh-colored bag,” he says of staying covered up in a very compromising shoot. “As a guy you put all your essentials in a little bag and you tie it up like a little bag of grapes and it’s tucked away. It’s quite a peculiar thing to do every day.”
That being said, Dornan doesn’t seem too affected by the sex scenes themselves. “I’m an extremely liberal person, I don’t give a f**k. If people are into that, they’re into that,” he says of the S&M lifestyle. “There’s weirder sh** than that. I think plane spotting is far weirder than S&M. That I really don’t get. I can understand why people are into S&M, but standing outside Heathrow Terminal 5 waiting for Ryanair to come in?”
Dornan recently revealed to ELLE magazine that he visited a sex dungeon as research for his role as Christian Grey, but went into a bit more detail about his experience at the lair to GQ. “I can tell you from an alarmingly first-hand perspective it’s not altogether sexy,” he says. “But I’ve been in a dungeon with a lukewarm beer while a dominant has had some fun with his submissive and it was very playful and jovial and not at all dark and serious. There was a lot of laughter.”
The 32-year-old actor seems to be a men’s magazine favorite as the release of movie fast approaches. Dornan shared on his Facebook that he’s also on the cover of Details magazine.
