If you thought the After movie saga as we know it was going to end with After Ever Happy, we have some exciting news for you. Hero Fiennes Tiffin himself, who plays Hardin, just revealed a fifth film will be headed our way soon.
Yes, folks, a fifth After movie that will follow up After Ever Happy is not only very much a thing, but it’s also already filmed! Hero Fiennes Tiffin announced the news on August 24 in a video posted to the After official Instagram account.
“I’m so excited to finally share some massive news with you all,” he says in the video. “We have just wrapped filming on the fifth After movie. I can’t tell you too much about it just yet, but I can tell you that it will be called After Everything and I cannot wait for you all to see it.”
Hero also spoke about the announcement during an early screening of After Ever Happy held in Madrid, Spain, also on August 24. “We are not done yet,” the actor told to fans in attendance, as seen in an IG Story posted to the After account. “But this one I am pretty sure is going to be the last one,” he added soon after.
Seeing as the project has already wrapped production, it’s safe to assume After Everything will hit our screens sooner rather than later. But fans will first have to see how Hessa’s relationship evolves in After Ever Happy, the now not-so-final installment of the film franchise, when it hits U.S. theaters on September 7, 2022.
Of course, we knew the After cinematic universe (shall we start calling it ACU?) was not going to end with After Ever Happy either. Back in 2021, director Castille Landon announced the After franchise would keep expanding with the addition of both a prequel and a sequel movie. The prequel will be based on Anna Todd’s Before series, which focuses on Hardin’s story before he meets Tessa (played by Josephine Langford). Since Hardin is much younger here, it was reported that Hero wouldn’t be reprising his role. The sequel, on the other hand, is set to follow the story of Tessa and Hardin’s children, whose names are Emery and Auden, and their cousin Addy.
From what Hero revealed in the short clip and judging by the chosen title, it sure looks like After Everything could work as a segue into the sequel — but as this announcement proves, always expect the unexpected when it comes to After.
