The actress behind Rudy Huxtable from ‘The Cosby Show’ is even a mom to a mini-me these days!
While ‘The Cosby Show’ is more infamous than famous these days, the throwback sitcom was popular back ’80s and early ’90s. Not only was it a comedic success, but the show spurred the careers of stars like Lisa Bonet and Raven-Symoné.
But as Garcelle Beauvais recently elaborated, it’s hard to separate the show from the man who hurt so many.
And though some of the show’s former stars don’t look back on their experience very fondly today, it’s worth exploring where the up-and-coming child stars from ‘The Cosby Show’ wound up.
For example, what happened to the young actress who played Rudy Huxtable? The youngest Huxtable kiddo is in her 40s these days, and she’s been busy since the sitcom wrapped.
Keshia Knight Pulliam actually started acting when she was just a baby. At nine months old, she was in a Johnson & Johnson ad for baby products. When she was three, Keshia even appeared on ‘Sesame Street.’
Then, Keshia landed her big break on ‘The Cosby Show’ in 1984. She spent eight years playing Rudy Huxtable, and the role even extended to TV movies centering on the fictional family.
And though fans may have lost track of Keshia, she didn’t fade into the sunset. In fact, even as a child star, she appeared on celebrity game shows (like ‘Fear Factor’ and ‘The Weakest Link’). When she got older, Knight Pulliam wound up on programs like ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ and ‘Big Brother,’ too.
But she didn’t just continue charming audiences on TV shows and in movies. Keshia also went on to found a non-profit called Kamp Kizzy. The organization’s website credits Keshia with being a role model for generations of young people and highlights the importance of providing enriching and empowering camp experiences for kids.
Keshia has some special inspiration for the cause, though: her daughter Ella. As People announced in 2017, Keshia welcomed her baby daughter amid an acrimonious split from her then-husband of six months. In fact, right after Keshia announced her pregnancy, Ed Hartwell filed for divorce from the star and requested a paternity test.
These days, though, Keshia’s clearly too busy to worry about what her ex is doing. In addition to raising her daughter, praising her current man, and running her charity, Keshia also gets busy in the kitchen. She sells kitchenwares and reps for them on a separate IG account from her personal page.
Unlike some former child stars, who split after one or two big roles, Keshia’s continued to forge a path for herself in Hollywood.
And clearly, she’s looking great doing it!
