Here’s what happened to every character who randomly disappeared during Young Sheldon

Young Sheldon has a lot of different characters coming and going but some of them literally just disappeared off the face of the show. A lot of them had great plot points and character development arcs that ultimately ended up being left completely unfinished. From Tam to Pastor Rob, what exactly happened to every character who randomly disappeared from Young Sheldon?

Well, from the actors being too busy to keep on filming for producers feeling like their storylines had run their course, let’s find out what happened to everyone!

Tam

When we meet Tam during Young Sheldon, he and Sheldon become fast friends after discovering they both like comic books and feel like social outcasts. before his cameo in season seven, we last saw Tam during season four at which point he slightly randomly seemed to disappear from the show after leaving Medford High School.

However, an episode from Big Bang Theory seems to explain what happened to their friendship after Young Sheldon, and it doesn’t look good for the pair. When they meet again in Big Bang Theory, Tam is in his mid-40s and neither he nor Sheldon have spoken to each other in over 20 years.

Sheldon admits he thinks of Tam as his mortal enemy because of how he betrayed him. As for the betrayal in question? Well, apparently Tam broke his promise to go to university in California with Sheldon and become roommates after he met his girlfriend. Sheldon was so hurt by this he even admitted to Amy that he thought he’d never want to be friends with anyone else after Tam. Poor Sheldon!

Paige

The last time viewers saw Paige was during season six when Missy ran away but no cameo or mention of her was included in the finale of the series, and now we finally know why. Executive producer Steve Holland finally revealed why she was absent for the finale of Young Sheldon and why her storyline was never properly tied up.

In an interview with TV Line, Steve explained that he didn’t think her storyline needed any more explanation, but that she was also too busy to return to film for them. He revealed: “People ask about Paige all the time, and she was only in nine episodes of Young Sheldon. Big Bang was done, and there was no way to go, ‘Can we go back and retrofit her into Big Bang Theory?’ People online respond to Paige and I think that’s because Mckenna is incredible. The downside of Mckenna being incredible is that Mckenna is a movie star and that makes Mckenna very difficult to get.

“When we got into this season, especially with it being a shortened season, we never thought that Paige’s storyline was an arc that needed more closing than it got. There was a parallel; she was a bit of a mirror image of Sheldon — a different way that Sheldon could have turned out — and I think we saw that play out.”

He continued, adding: “I know there are some dark theories about what happened to Paige and why Sheldon doesn’t mention her [on Big Bang]. I don’t think she’s not mentioned because she went down a dark path and is dead in The Big Bang Theory. For us, it was just an interesting way to explore another kid who had a similar thing to Sheldon and the different roads that they could take.

“By season six she is not a huge part of Sheldon’s life; she’s more of Missy’s friend in the show than she is Sheldon’s friend. That said, it would have been great to have Mckenna back because she’s incredible, always.”

Pastor Rob

There are a lot of characters in Young Sheldon who seem to mysteriously disappear and Pastor Rob is one of them. We first meet him in season five but after his last appearance in season six, he’s not seen again, not even for a cameo in the final episode.

Whilst Mary was hesitant about his alternative method of teaching children about religion at first, they soon became close friends to the point where George even suspected they could be having an affair. Funnily enough, one of the last times we see Mary and Pastor Rob together could explain his sudden disappearance from Young Sheldon, as well as what he went on to do.

Pastor Rob meets with Mary at Lulu’s Corner cafe and reveals to her that he’s been offered a job at First Baptist Church in Little Rock Arkansas. He’s not sure whether to take the job and she tells him to follow his heart. He later sees George and Mary fighting over their joint suspected affairs and overall marital problems.

His disappearance in season six and noticeable absence from George’s funeral seem to heavily suggest that he did actually take the job offer and moved to Arkansas. He might have decided that it was best to leave without saying a proper goodbye to Mary due to George’s suspicions, hence why we never got a confirmed ending for him.
