HBO Max is officially expanding The Big Bang Theory universe once again — and this time, longtime fan favorite Stuart Bloom is stepping into the spotlight. The streamer has unveiled the first brief look at its upcoming comedy Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, included in a teaser highlighting HBO Max’s 2026 programming slate.
While the footage itself is fleeting, it confirms what fans have been hearing for some time: this spin-off leans heavily into science fiction and multiverse chaos. The series stars Kevin Sussman reprising his role as Stuart, alongside returning cast members Lauren Lapkus as Denise and Brian Posehn as geologist Bert Kibbler. John Ross Bowie is also back as Barry Kripke, with Ryan Cartwright and Josh Brener set to appear as guest stars.
Developed by Warner Bros. Television, the show follows Stuart after a catastrophic mistake involving a device created by Sheldon and Leonard. That error triggers a multiverse-level disaster, leaving Stuart — of all people — responsible for fixing reality. According to HBO Max’s official description, he’s joined on the mission by Denise, Bert, and Barry, encountering alternate-universe versions of familiar Big Bang Theory characters along the way. As the title suggests, things don’t exactly go according to plan.
