Grey’s Anatomy Season 22 Tease Hints at a Tragedy Even More Devastating Than Derek’s Death

Grey’s Anatomy season 21’s finale showed a possibly catastrophic event that may have even more emotional impact than one of the series’ most devastating moments – yes, the possible death of Atticus (“Link”) Lincoln could rival or eclipse the horror of Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd’s tragic passing. It’s not that one death would mean more – every life has equal value. It’s just that the circumstances surrounding Link’s romance with Jo Wilson would make his death wrenching.

Both Grey’s Anatomy characters – Link and “McDreamy” – have added richness and spice to the series. Derek’s the man who made Meredith Grey’s heart pound, and Derek’s death in Grey’s Anatomy changed her forever. The sadly departed Dr. McDreamy was Grey Sloan Memorial’s Mr. Darcy – a dreamboat straight out of Pride and Prejudice.

Since the terrible explosion at the healthcare facility leaves Link’s fate hanging in the balance, and Jo is the mother of his twin babies, everything’s on the line. On Instagram, Jo actress Camilla Luddington referenced Link’s condition in Grey’s Anatomy as she poses with pals and jokes around about season 21’s shocking cliffhanger.

Everything’s gonna be fine tho right guys?!!! RIGHT asking for a *friend

*Jo Wilson

Will everything be okay? Most fans are probably fervently hoping that Link survives. He’s an orthopedic surgeon who’s so devoted to Jo – in fact, he’s lit up her life. To see that kind of beautiful love extinguished in a split second would be so awful.

Camilla, a Brit who’s still adjusting to certain American traditions, such as The Fourth of July, cheekily referenced season 21’s intense cliffhanger, showing her lighthearted spirit. The show’s so serious sometimes, it’s no wonder she sees the humor in the over-the-top-melodrama.

With Grey’s Anatomy, it’s possible for viewers to lose themselves in the ups and downs of remarkably attractive hospital staff and their patients. Offscreen, Camilla clearly likes to blow off steam.

Their Journey Together Is Just Beginning

McDreamy’s death was awful, but at least he and Meredith had time together. They built a family and had a long and fulfilling romance. It took Meredith and Derek a long time to get on the same page, and they finally had their happily ever after. Then, Derek’s helping spirit led him to intervene at the scene of a car accident. It’s a doctor’s nature to step in and do all they can to sustain life – Derek died because of his ideals. He died a hero.

With Jo, her journey with Link is really just beginning. It’s not a whole love story – it’s like a fairytale that’s just a few chapters long, and still unfolding. If Link does die, that fairy tale will turn into a nightmare. Jo will have the twin babies to comfort her, but her heart will be broken. Her husband will be dead. She loves him! That kind of loss is so hard to recover from. It’s like a knife in the heart.

Derek Sheperd and Mark Sloan had quite the romantic hearts! Here are the most beautiful quotes from Dr. McDreamy and Dr. McSteamy on Grey’s Anatomy.

Thus, Meredith had more memories. Her relationship with Derek was like a tapestry embroidered with silken threads of different colors and textures, creating a romance that was a true masterpiece. There was the passionate and spontaneous one-night stand that started it all, and then there was Meredith’s rival Addison Montgomery, Derek’s ex, who tried to stir up trouble.

But it culminated int Meredith’s marriage to McDreamy and the birth of their adorable children: daughters Zola and Ellis, and their son, Bailey. With Link and Jo, the tapestry is still missing so many threads – so many wonderful moments to come – and the darker challenges all couples must overcome. This is why, objectively, if Link dies next season, it could be the greatest Grey’s Anatomy tragedy ever.
