“They left home, and they’ve all come back,” said Tana, who shares six kids with Gordon Ramsay
The Ramsay family has one full house!
Tana and Gordon Ramsay share kids Megan, 26, twins Jack and Holly, 24, Matilda “Tilly,” 22, Oscar, 5, and Jesse, 8 months. And its not just the little ones that live with them in London, Tana, 49, revealed on the podcast Postcards from Midlife with Lorraine Candy and Trish Halpin.
“They left home, and they’ve all come back,” the cookbook author said of her four kids in their twenties. “They moved out of our house three years ago to renovate.”
At the time of their family house makeover, Megan and Holly were living with friends and Jack was “away in the west country.” Tilly was the only one at home with Oscar and Jesse, Tana shared.
“By the time we finished the project and moved back in three weeks ago, everyone has a bedroom again,” she said on Postcards from Midlife. “They’ve all moved home. Holly lives in Nottingham, but she’s always coming back to London and obviously wants a bedroom with her boyfriend [swimmer Adam Peaty].”
Even in a house bustling with young adults, Tana said that her youngest Jesse is able to sleep through it all. Since he still spends the night in her bedroom, he’s good at “sleeping through noise.”
“Luckily when someone’s sneaking in at three in the morning [and] the dog is barking like crazy, doors are slamming, he sleeps.” she added. “They just have to revolve around him really.”
The kitchen is one of the busiest places in their home. And surprisingly, it’s not Gordon who does the cooking — Tana said she “always” helms the stove. “Gordon eats anything. He’s so easy to cook for. He wants the plainest most simple home cooking,” she said.
Her adult kids, on the other hand, are a different story. “They’re all so fussy. Holly won’t eat dairy at the moment. Tilly eats fish, but not meat,” she said. “They never used to be like this, so the little ones are the easiest.”
She added: “All the kids are quite demanding, but I love it.”
In May, Gordon told PEOPLE that he does his best to make sure his kids have a well-rounded diet.
“With the kids, it was really important that they became unfussy. And so back in the early days, we would disguise spinach, blend it in soups,” he said. “And then if I showed them the bowl was spinach, they’d turn their nose up against it. And so we were very smart with lots of soups with vegetables right at the very beginning of that journey.”
He also shared what his favorite meal is that Tana makes: “I would say it would be her bolognese lasagna, where she makes this incredible bolognese sauce.”
Tana’s cooking, particularly this dish, gives him a run for his money. “It goes into the oven for about four and a half hours,” he told PEOPLE. “Really delicious indeed, pretty unique.”
