Gordon Ramsay’s New Show Sends Top Chefs on a Culinary Mission Like No Other

What drives top chefs around the world to expose themselves to the merciless pressure of Michelin-starred gastronomy? That is the question the latest series on Apple TV+ tries to answer, by following the pursuit of perfection in top-tier restaurants up close . Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars accompanies international chefs for a year as they go through the highs and lows of getting into the famed Michelin Guide.

Produced by Studio Ramsay Global and with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay as executive producer, the eight-part series takes a rare, unfiltered look at the underbelly of the world’s culinary elite. Whether chefs are chasing that first star, reaching the second or third – or defending their existing ranking: The camera is there.

A must for gourmets

“The pursuit of perfection is at the heart of gastronomy,” Ramsay emphasizes. “The daily commitment, the willingness to sacrifice, the ambition – it all culminates in one moment: the verdict of the Michelin Guide.”

Filming took place around the globe, including in culinary hotspots like London, Los Angeles, Copenhagen and Mexico City. The secretive work of the Michelin testers, (in)famous for visiting restaurants incognito, is also discussed – shedding light on an oft-overlooked aspect of the evaluation process.

The series is hosted by Jesse Burgess, the British culinary host and co-founder of Topjaw. Alongside Ramsay, Lisa Edwards and Morgan Roberts are responsible for the production. A release date has yet to be set, but one thing is already certain: The show promises to be a must-see for gourmets, as well as anyone who wants to know what it really means to be one of the world’s top chefs.
