Gordon Ramsay visits New Haven’s Frank Pepe Pizzeria, Sally’s Apizza

NEW HAVEN — World-renowned celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay decided to visit some other great culinary institutions yesterday, according to social media posts from Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana and Sally’s Apizza.

On Tuesday night, Pepe’s posted a picture of Ramsay posing with restaurant staff, featuring a caption that reads “BIG thank you to Gordon Ramsay @gordongram for visiting us today on Wooster St!”

On Sally’s Instagram, a Tuesday night post shows Ramsay posing with founder’s son Rick Consiglio and holding a pizza box that he signed “So good. Thx.”

Ramsay, who’s been in Connecticut to shoot “Hell’s Kitchen” at Foxwoods Resort Casino, has been exploring the state over the last few months.

He’s visited restaurants including Red 36 in Mystic, Oyster Club and The Shipwright’s Daughter, whose chef, David Standridge, won a James Beard Award this month. Closer to set, he’s also visited Guy Fieri’s Foxwoods Kitchen.

There have been some bumps along the way. In a June 15 social media post, Ramsay shared that he had been in a bicycle accident and was “a bit bruised up, looking like a purple potato.” He reminded followers of the importance of wearing a helmet.

Both institutions of New Haven apizza are known for getting love from celebrities ranging from Paul Giamatti to Conan O’Brien to Hillary Clinton. For Sally’s this is the second star visit within a week — Brooklyn Peltz Beckham picked up a takeout order last Thursday.
