Gordon Ramsay to bring back classic series after nearly a decade off-air

Gordan Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares is coming back, after an almost 10-year absence.

The US version of the show, which sees the expletive-loving chef visit failing restaurants and tries to turn their fortunes around in a week, aired almost 100 episodes between 2007 and 2014, essentially taking over where the UK version ended.

Now it’s coming back for more episodes on the Fox network, where Chef Ramsay already has his shows Next Level Chef and Hell’s Kitchen, and MasterChef and MasterChef Junior, where he serves as one of the judges.

He also previously fronted Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours To Hell and Back for three seasons on the network, which was essentially a supercharged version of Kitchen Nightmares.

Fox is owned by The Walt Disney Company, so the revived series could possibly stream on Disney+ in the UK. However, Ramsay has had shows premiere on the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, whilst Amazon’s Freevee service heavily features his shows in promotional material, so it’ll be interesting to see where new Kitchen Nightmares features over here.

Across the original run, Kitchen Nightmares aired some iconic and shocking episodes in some truly awful locations, with dreadful décor, uncompromising owners, and mouldy food that actually made the chef be sick.

Meanwhile, earlier this year the future of Ramsay’s travel show Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip was thrown into question following the departure of one of the trio. Gino D’Acampo decided to exit following scheduling conflicts with Ramsay and Fred Sirieix.

D’Acampo denied that there is any fued between the friends, stating: “I love the boys. We have a great friendship. So that is not a problem. The problem is contracts. Sometimes they get very overcomplicated.”
