Gordon Ramsay speaks out on massive age gap between his children as he reveals secret to his marriage

Gordon Ramsay is very different to his on-screen personality

Arguably the most famous and foul-mouthed chef of all-time, Gordon Ramsay is known for his intimidating demeanour, but it may not be entirely accurate.

The multi-Michelin starred chef is known for being a family man away from the kitchen and screen, having six children with his wife Tana.

Ramsay revealed all on the secrets behind a successful marriage and the challenges of having children whose ages are so far apart.

The Hell’s Kitchen star spoke about what it’s like to have four grown-up children, a toddler and a baby, and how he compares the experiences, though he may not be leaving any of his fortune to them.

Ramsay has six kids; Megan, 26, Holly, 24, Jack, 24, Tilly, 22, Oscar, five, and Jesse, six months.

Despite admitting to People that his wife is ‘an amazing mum’, he claimed that he is a better dad with his two younger children, saying: “If I had to self critique, I know I’m better because I’ve got experience now.

“I think we’ve done a good job so far with the first four,” he explained.

Overall, Ramsay thinks that there are mostly benefits with having children that have an age gap.

The chef said: “The second part of this family with the other two little ones, I think they’re in a great position because they’re getting educated a lot earlier from their bigger, older siblings, and they’re fascinated with their careers.”

His daughter Megan works in the Metropolitan Police in London, while his son Jack is in the Royal Marines.

The 57-year-old said that his five-year-old understands the importance of the jobs of his older siblings, even trying to put his older brother’s green beret on.

The chef has been married to wife Tana since 1996, also revealing how they have made it work for the best part of 30 years amid their busy schedules.

“Date nights are crucial, whether it’s the cinema, whether it’s going out for a drive. We have a little time, but it’s quality, and so that is really important,” he said.

Ramsay insisted it doesn’t have to be a weekend: “Everyone thinks Monday is the most boring day. It’s not.

“With a young family, we are grabbing moments, and that date night moment is crucial.”

The small getaways and sliver of alone time that they get here and there has been essential in helping the marriage last as long as it has, with it becoming one of their favourite ways to spend time together.

He revealed that the latest instances of this was when they went up to Nottingham to see their daughter Tilly at university.

The couple shared a walk on campus before having a dinner at a two-Michelin star restaurant, stayed overnight and drove home the next day.

One more thing that might surprise you about Ramsay is the fact that he previously admitted his wife cooks the family meals, as their children think that his food is ‘too posh’, as he put it.

He also spoke about his favourite dish of hers: “I would say it would be her bolognese lasagna, where she makes this incredible bolognese sauce,

“It goes into the oven for about four and a half hours, really delicious indeed, pretty unique.”
