Ramsay also recently spoke to PEOPLE about whether he would be open to having more kids with his wife Tana
Six children were always the goal for Gordon Ramsay.
The TV chef, 57, said that having six children with wife Tana Ramsay was “the dream” in a new interview, after surprising fans with the announcement of their sixth child, son Jesse James, last year.
“That was the dream,” the Kitchen Nightmares host told Entertainment Tonight when asked by the outlet if that number of children had been an aim. “That was the dream we first set out.”
Ramsay and wife Tana welcome their son Jesse James in November 2023. The pair share five other children: daughter Megan, 25, twins Jack and Holly, 24, daughter Matilda “Tilly,” 22, and son Oscar, 4.
In his latest interview, Ramsay shared that he barely has time to himself what with being a father of six now and joked that he looks forward to hopefully having a day off soon.
“Honestly, the holidays is the worst time for any chef because we go to the restaurant, it’s super busy,” Ramsay told ET. “You go back home. It’s super busy. And the Ramsay household is like running a restaurant where no one goes home. “
“Breakfast, lunch and dinner. ‘Dad, can we have that prime rib tonight?’ We just finished lunch! Can you give me a minute?!’ You’re never off, honestly,” he added.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the father of six shared his shocked reaction to son Oscar suggesting they expanded their family even further and have a seventh child.
“This morning, Oscar said, ‘Wouldn’t it be nice if Jesse and I had a little sister?’ And I spat my Cheerios out. So yeah, I had to get up from the table and walk away,” quipped Ramsay.
Despite his reaction, it appears though the Hell’s Kitchen star could be swayed into adding another baby to their brood.
“I didn’t wait to see Tana’s reaction. I literally coughed my Cheerios out all over the table. So yeah, listen, who knows, right?” Ramsay added.
Ramsay announced the arrival of youngest son Jesse James after his birth, after he and Tana kept the latest pregnancy a secret in a cautious decision after losing their son Rocky during pregnancy at 20 weeks, he shared with PEOPLE.
“That was a significant moment in the family’s lives,” Ramsay said. “And so we tread with caution this time around and we were blessed. Jesse’s really helped bring everyone even closer. And then that level of responsibility again, is just even more exciting.”
Ramsay also said that he is “incredibly lucky” with his kids as he shared a parenting tip for raising six children on his show Last Meals in an episode aired earlier this month.
The cooking host said he warned his kids “not to deal with fame, fortune, money” as he explained they “all work” and he has encouraged them to save their earnings.
“They got to stay true to their form by saving every dollar. and so when you start that practice, at sort of 10, 11, 12, 13, they got their part-time jobs, all of a sudden their minds are focused about their career paths,” he continued. “And so yeah, that was the opposite way that I grew up. They are super disciplined and they are on it man.”
