Gordon Ramsay in ‘permission row with council as they reject plans for his £7m mansion’
Planning officers are said to have urged Gordon Ramsay to put in a fresh application which “would warrant further consideration” into his plans.
Council bosses have reportedly rejected Gordon Ramsay’s bid to modify security gates and knock down a “historic wall” at his £7million four-bed mansion. The 57-year-old chef was keen to make the changes to his home as part of an ongoing three-year renovation.
Gordon’s plans to extend his basement and renovate the interior were approved back in July 2021. However, the additional requests such as the installation of painted timber gates and plans to replace a “historic” boundary wall with a new design have been denied.
According to The Sun, the council informed Gordon that the wall would not keep with the other properties in the area and could make an “impact on a conservation area”. Planning officers are said to have urged him to put in a fresh application which “would warrant further consideration”.
The chef and his family have reportedly been staying at a luxury property nearby as his property plans develop. Changes to his home so far have included transforming three bedrooms into the one “super-bedroom” on the first floor, while upstairs features three en-suite rooms.
The father-of-six has also extended his basement, which includes a gym, shower room as well as a study room. Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Gordon for comment.
The chef is believed to own three dreamy homes in London, Los Angeles and Cornwall.
He shares the properties with his long-term wife Tana Ramsay and their six children Megan, Holly, Jack, Tilly, Oscar, and Jesse.
Last month, Gordon gave an insight into his busy schedule, juggling parenting with running his many restaurants.
After welcoming their sixth baby last year, he joked having six children felt like “running a restaurant where no one goes home”.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he shared: “Honestly, the holidays is the worst time for any chef because we go to the restaurant it’s super busy. You go back home.
“It’s super busy. And the Ramsay household is like running a restaurant where no one goes home.”
Elaborating, he added: “Breakfast, lunch and dinner. ‘Dad, can we have that prime rib tonight?’ We just finished lunch! Can you give me a minute?!’ You’re never off, honestly.”
Gordon went on to say there will be “no more” babies for the pair, as he joked about being the “grandaddy” at sports day.
The restaurateur and Tana shocked fans with their baby news in November after keeping her pregnancy private.
He later revealed that keeping the baby news secret was a cautious decision after losing their son Rocky during pregnancy at 20 weeks.
“That was a significant moment in the family’s lives,” he told People Magazine.
“And so we tread with caution this time around and we were blessed. Jesse’s really helped bring everyone even closer. And then that level of responsibility again, is just even more exciting.”
