An American woman has sparked outrage from Gordon Ramsay after she shared a video on how to make ‘traditional’ British fish and chips – using a microwave.
The motormouthed Scottish chef is an avid TikTok user and often rates people’s homemade meals, and he couldn’t resist picking apart amateur cook Michelle’s effort.
Michell, who goes by @jchelle36 on the video app, shared a clip of her unconventional recipe, which includes root beer and sugar, back in 2020.
Ramsay then broadcasted his disbelief to his followers on TikTok, stitching his live reaction alongside her video, under the hashtag #Ramsayreacts.
The TV favourite is seen grimacing as Michelle, who previously caused a stir with her bizarre tea-making technique, demonstrates her take on the iconic British fare.
At one stage, a flabbergasted Ramsay blurts out: “What are you doing? You cannot be serious! There’s nothing British about that!”
Throughout the video, he repeatedly mutters “no”, likens her batter to “puke”, and asserts she’s “lost the plot”.
Surprisingly, despite the shock and the anger, Ramsay refrains from any of his customary profanity throughout the entire reaction.
One viewer quipped: “He’s trying so hard not to swear”, while another suggested Ramsay was being too lenient on the TikTok creator. Some have even called the dish “a crime against food”.
This isn’t Michelle’s first time causing a stir; her ‘hot tea’ recipe last year provoked ire in the UK, drawing comments from the British Ambassador to the US and TV personalities like Phillip Schofield and Davina McCall.
Michelle, who is believed to be based in the UK but originally from the USA, recently left viewers aghast with her unconventional method for making beans on toast – but without toasting the bread.
