Gerry and Theresa shared the key reason behind their divorce
The reality star couple said “I do” in a star-studded ceremony on January 4.
And despite announcing on Friday that they will be filing for divorce, Gerry, 72, and Theresa, 70, still believe they might find true love one day.
Speaking with Good Morning America, the pair were asked if they would “still look for love” post-split.
“Oh yeah,” the first Golden Bachelor shared.
“Yes, and we tell everyone else to continue to look for love,” Theresa agreed.
Gerry then turned to his former spouse to say, “You know I still love you,” to which she replied, “And I still love you.”
On Friday, the ABC couple announced they would be dissolving their marriage after only three months.
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations and we’ve looked closely at our living situation,” they told GMA.
“We’ve come to the decision mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage.”
Just three months prior, Gerry and Theresa told the world they couldn’t imagine living without each other.
When asked what has changed, the TV personality said their families were the guiding factor.
“The thing that strikes me the most in our conversations, it’s been how dedicated both of us are to our families.
“I think we just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us to live apart.”
Despite looking for homes in both South Carolina and New Jersey, they were unable to decide where to relocate.
Theresa confessed that she will have to “give her ring and dress back” to The Golden Bachelor as they have chosen to not move forward with their marriage.
“But you know, we won’t have to give back the memories,” Gerry asserted.
Toward the end of the conversation, the restauranteur claimed they do still love one another despite their decision to move on.
Fans were outraged at the separation news, posting their frustration on X, with several admitting they weren’t surprised by the news.
“What a joke!” one slammed.
“Surprised? Why do people even watch this?” a second wondered.
“I knew this would happen. They didn’t even live together,” a third ripped.
“What an amazing 927 hours that they had,” a fourth wrote sarcastically.
“Cancel the golden bachelor!!! Shouldn’t have rushed the wedding,” a fifth pleaded.
Gerry and Theresa said “I do” in a star-studded ceremony this past January at the La Quinta Resort & Club in Palm Springs, California.
Just last week, the couple sparked split rumors when the news broke that they were still living apart – three months after tying the knot.
The ABC star is still based at his northern Indiana lake house while the financial services professional is still residing in New Jersey, TMZ shared.
The difficulties involved with moving was the main reason behind their decision to remain apart, a source told the outlet.
“They’ve each got their own established homes in their respective states, and moving everything into one pad would be time-consuming,” the insider explained.
Gerry proposed to Theresa on the November 30 finale of the first season of The Golden Bachelor after their first meeting in August.
