Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist have one more ‘feud’ to get through as they rush for a divorce.
Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist have only been married for three months, but last Friday they announced on Good Morning America their decision to divorce.
Despite revealing on the show that they are amicably splitting up, Gerry and Theresa’s divorce will end with its own set of drama.
Breaking off their high-profile marriage will come with its own unique challenges.
First, according to the rules of the show, they’ve got to return Theresa’s engagement ring from celebrity jeweler Neil Lane.
Then, they’ll awkwardly have to watch the airing of their episode of Celebrity Family Feud, in which they appeared with their families, just over a week before they told the world about their divorce.
It’s unknown when the episode will air, but it is definitely expectedly to be released at some point, per TMZ.
Only five days before their divorce announcement, Gerry seemed excited about the filming, sharing a photo on Instagram from the day and writing: “Had a GREAT time at Celebrity Family Feud with the blended family.”
Gerry also shared a selfie he took with Meghan Trainor during the appearance.
The reality TV stars were joined for the episode by Gerry’s daughters Angie and Jenny, as well as Theresa’s kids Jen and Tommy.
Angie also shared a sneak peek at their episode, writing on Instagram: “MY LIFELONG DREAM was finally fulfilled! Since I was little I wanted to be on Family Feud.
“I would dream about it and assemble my team in my mind. Yesterday…it happened!!!! We played Celebrity Family Feud!!! It was so much fun. Our team was my Dad, Theresa, my sister, me, Tommy and Jen! Tune in sometime in August!” added Angie.
Gerry and Theresa announced their split days later during an interview on Good Morning America.
During the interview, Gerry said: “Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation and so forth, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage.”
“The things that strike me the most in our conversations it’s been how dedicated both of us are to our families. So, we look at these situations and I think we just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us to live apart,” he explained.
“I still love this person, there’s no doubt in my mind. I root for her every day.”
Theresa acknowledged that they have a prenuptial agreement in place and plan on returning their wedding rings, which is a rule in Bachelor Nation.
“I think that’s the rule, I think I have to give this ring back. Sad to say,” she shared, with Gerry adding: “But, you know what, we don’t have to give back the memories.”
Everyone has given their opinions on the bombshell divorce but fans were the most angry over the split, calling the first season of the ABC show a “waste of time” because of it.
Former Bachelor Nation stars have also given their two cents, including Golden Bachelor contestant Maria Trice, who has claimed she “dodged a bullet,” fan-favorite Susan Noles, who tried to explain what happened between the pair, and Faith Martin, who just wants to see the couple happy.
Meanwhile, finalist Leslie Fhima has clapped back at the fans who claim she also narrowly escaped being with Gerry and April Kirkwood has revealed she warned Theresa about Gerry, which has annoyed fans despite their own feelings about the split.
Even TV personalities like The View’s Ana Navarro has essentially told viewers “I told you so,” and Today’s Al Roker has said some out of pocket things about it as well.
