Golden Bachelorette’s Joan & Chock Reveal Why They’re Pumping the Brakes on Wedding Plans

It’s been nearly three months since Golden Bachelorette stars Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple were able to go public with their engagement, and fans are eager to know: when’s the wedding? While Golden Bachelor alums Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist wasted no time tying the knot—only to divorce three months later—Joan and Chock are choosing a different path.

Taking Their Time as a Couple

During a recent appearance on the Rogue Energy podcast, Joan shared that while she and Chock are still happily engaged, they aren’t rushing to walk down the aisle.

“[Chock’s] like, ‘Do whatever you want.’ Chock is the easiest person, the most laid back,” Joan revealed. “He’s like, ‘Whatever you want, you just do.’ What I want right now is to just be a couple.”

Rather than planning a wedding, the couple is focused on adjusting to life together outside of reality TV. “We have only been out in public for less than three months, so we’re still doing stuff that, like, beginning couples are doing,” she explained. “Introducing each other to our friends. He only knows a few of my friends. We’ve never gone on vacation together other than meeting in New York City for a few days.”

First Real Vacation Together

Joan and Chock are finally taking their first real trip as a couple. On February 3, Joan shared on her Instagram Story that they were headed to Cancún, Mexico. “We’re going to have a real vacation. We’re going to get on a plane, go to a beach, sit in the sand, and have no one bother us,” she said.

Though their relationship was only revealed to the public in November 2024, Joan and Chock have actually been engaged since July. However, instead of rushing into wedding planning, they’re prioritizing getting to know each other on a deeper level.

A Possible 2025 or 2026 Wedding?

While Joan and Chock are in no hurry, that doesn’t mean a wedding is off the table. In January, Chock hinted that they’re “getting closer” to making things official.

“Somebody today at lunch said, ‘25?’ and I said, ‘Maybe at the end of ’25 or ’26,’” he shared. “We’re having a lot of fun together just getting to know each other.”

Their slow approach to marriage is a stark contrast to Golden Bachelor couple Gerry and Theresa, whose whirlwind wedding quickly unraveled. In hindsight, Theresa admitted on the Almost Famous podcast, “You really can’t know somebody in four weeks.”

Love First, Marriage Later

Joan and Chock’s decision to take things slow seems to be a deliberate move to ensure their relationship stands the test of time. Rather than rushing into marriage for the sake of appearances, they’re prioritizing their connection.

For now, they’re simply enjoying life as an engaged couple—with no pressure to rush to the altar. Whether they say “I do” in 2025, 2026, or beyond, it’s clear that Joan and Chock are making sure their love story unfolds at its own pace.
