The Golden Bachelorette runner-up Guy Gansert made an appearance on the soap opera General Hospital, and I believe that one of his character’s lines might’ve been a hint that he’s going to be the star of The Golden Bachelor season 2. During The Golden Bachelorette season 1, Guy was ready to propose to leading lady Joan Vassos, but he was heartbroken when she broke up with him to get engaged to Chock Chapple. Since then, there’s been much speculation about who’ll be the next Golden Bachelor, and Guy has been one of the frontrunners.
After The Golden Bachelorette season 1, 66-year-old Guy retired from his job as an ER doctor in Reno, Nevada. On March 12, 2025, Guy made a special appearance on General Hospital as wildlife journalist Jeffrey Beckett, and he interacted with both Cynthia Watros’ character of Nina Reeves, and Maura West as Ava Jerome. As a lifelong General Hospital fan, I was thrilled to see a crossover between two of my favorite shows, and now I think that there might’ve been more to Guy’s appearance than meets the eye.
What Did Guy Gansert Say On General Hospital That Might Hint That He’ll Be The Star Of The Golden Bachelor Season 2?
There Were Nods To The Bachelor Franchise Throughout His Scenes
When Guy appeared on General Hospital, he wore a dark blue suit that made him look like the Bachelor, and there were roses in vases around the room, which were a sweet nod to the Bachelor franchise. Guy’s General Hospital character, Jeffrey, was even an ER doctor before becoming a wildlife journalist, so that was a reflection of his real life. However, I was the most excited when Guy’s character spoke to Cynthia’s character of Nina about his dating status. She asked him how his wife or partner felt about him being gone for long periods of time.
As Jeffrey, Guy responded, “No wife, no partner.” Cynthia as Nina said, “So you’re single.” Guy replied, “For the moment.” Cynthia said, “Oh, you have someone special waiting in the wings then?” Guy then said, “No. I have this feeling I’m going to meet someone special soon. And I’ve learned to trust my feelings.” Although I know that this scene was created as a way for the character of Nina to flirt with Jeffrey, I also felt that there might’ve been more to it.
I have this feeling I’m going to meet someone special soon. And I’ve learned to trust my feelings.
Because the lines between Guy’s character and his real self were so blurred, and because there were roses in the scene, I thought that maybe this might’ve been a subtle hint that Guy will be meeting his someone special soon as the star of The Golden Bachelor season 2. While some might say that I’m reading too much into it, both shows are on ABC, and it would be the perfect crossover.
Guy Gansert Should Be The Next Golden Bachelor
Guy Deserves A Second Chance At Love
After opening up to Joan during The Golden Bachelorette and proving that he’s ready to get married again after his divorce, Guy deserves a second chance at love as the next Golden Bachelor. He faced some backlash during Joan’s season when it came to light that his ex-wife had filed a restraining order against him, but she eventually dropped it, and it seems as though that matter has been settled.
I believe that Guy has shown that he would make a fantastic Golden Bachelor lead. His General Hospital appearance proved to me that he has leading man qualities because he’s handsome, successful, romantic, and charming. Although it’s just speculation at this point, I think that Guy’s comment on General Hospital about having a feeling that he’ll meet someone special soon was more than just a premonition, and it was actually a hint that he’s going to be the star of The Golden Bachelor season 2. I couldn’t be happier for him.
