“He has newfound hope, and I think that is so beautiful,” Palmer says of fan favorite Charles, who didn’t receive a rose from Joan this week.
Each week during The Golden Bachelorette, host Jesse Palmer will answer a few questions about Joan’s “journey” to find “love.” Today, Jesse shares his thoughts via email about that senior striptease date, saying goodbye to Charles, and more.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: The dates this week presented a lot of challenges for the men. If you had to impress a woman with one of the following, which would you choose and why: Ice skating, doing a strip tease, or zesting a lemon?
JESSE PALMER: Zesting a lemon because I can barely skate, and nobody wants to see me strip. I can, however, zest a lemon with supreme confidence and panache.
Speaking of the Chippendales date, whose routine impressed you the most?
Charles ripping open his Hawaii shirt was amazing, and Jonathan might have been a Chippendale once upon a time…
Keith got tongue-tied during his cocktail party conversation with Joan, and I felt so bad for him. What do you think caused him to get in his head, as he put it, in that moment?
Poor Keith. He just put too much pressure on himself, but it was coming from a good place!
This rose ceremony was the most emotional one yet. What was the mood like in the room when you came in and asked the men to say their goodbyes?
You could definitely feel the emotion and sadness. Joan had formed legitimate connections with all of the men, and saying goodbye was really difficult for everyone involved.
Finally, Jesse, the moment we’ve all been dreading arrived: Charles was sent home. Bachelor Nation needs one of your patented Palmer Pep Talks — how are we supposed to overcome this heartbreak?
As heartbreaking as it is to see Charles return home, he has newfound hope, and I think that is so beautiful. Charles deserves to be happy, and he took a huge step outside of his comfort zone to be on the show. He is leaving with more confidence and as a better version of himself!
