‘Golden Bachelorette’ had a second one-on-one date for an Iowan, guest for Joan Vassos

The third episode of “The Golden Bachelorette,” was an anxiety-filled ride for Joan Vassos and her contestants.

Nerves and issues at home were all too common to Vassos in Episode 3, who worried about her family and couldn’t get her late husband off her mind. The men worried about their value, experienced alone-time jitters and put it all on the line for this year’s “Golden Bachelorette.”

Who received the first one-on-one date on Episode 3?

Pascal Ibgui, a Frenchman who now calls Chicago home, went on the first one-on-one date of Episode 3 with “Golden Bachelorette” Vassos. He opened up about his beliefs in marriage, as Vassos shared her college journey and the life she’s lived with her family.

“You have a big heart, you have a lot of resilience,” Vassos said.

Under the Vegas lights, Vassos offered Ibgui the first rose of the night, securing him a spot for the next week.

Dan Roemer takes to the field for ‘The Golden Bachelorette’ Episode 3 group date

Dan Roemer, a Des Moines native, took to the football field on Episode 3 for a group date. It’s not what you think, though. The men were challenged by retired NFL stars Eric Dickerson and Andre Reed to a kickball tournament.

With a live audience and band, the first annual Golden Bachelorette Quaker Oats Kick Bowl. Vassos noted both teams were getting quite competitive.

Roemer was on the red team, but got tapped by a blue team member, leading his team to a regretful loss. The winning team enjoyed a post-game cocktail party with Vassos.

Gil Ramirez, a California educator, earned the group date rose from Vassos, after she said her heart was touched by his stories about and love for his daughter.

Iowan Jonathan Rone gets second one-on-one date of ‘Golden Bachelorette’ season

Jonathan Rone, who lives in Oakland, Iowa, received the second one-on-one date. He admitted, through nerves, that he would have rather been on the group date with Vassos. While he was excited, he said he also felt vulnerable and was nervous.

Both wearing cowboy boots, they took a horseback riding journey together. Almost instantly, Rone became more comfortable.

“Riding these horses, I’m looking at Joann and she is so beautiful,” Rone said. “I’m so grateful I got this one-on-one and not the group date.”

Vassos said she was nervous for her one-on-one date with Rone, but called it a fantastic day.

Rone compared himself to a turtle, recalling his Native American background, saying he’s used his shell to protect himself and his heart. Rone got vulnerable in explaining his fear of being blindsided again following his divorce and fearing that he isn’t enough.

Vassos reassured Rone, saying he’s “probably one of the best,” men. Offering him the one-on-one date rose, Vassos said Rone was probably the most open man she’s met since her husband.

“In my life, I am the caregiver,” Vassos said. “I want to take care of you.”

She said being strong is exhausting, and had a few things to share with the men. Vassos said that she missed her family terribly and opened up about not only her mother’s health but missing her late husband.

Vassos said that she doesn’t know if she’ll ever be 100% again, but she was thanked by the men for being honest. Many of the men, widowers themselves, were able to understand her heavy heart.

Gerry Turner makes a surprise appearance on ‘The Golden Bachelorette’

Right before her rose ceremony, Vassos received a pleasant surprise from Gerry Turner, an Iowan and the first “Golden Bachelor.” Vassos also competed on Turner’s season, before leaving to be with her family.

Turner hit Vassos with a hard question, asking, “Have you considered the possibility that your guy is not here?”

Admitting she had, Vassos said she was still positive in her experience. Turner said she was a step ahead of him, then. Vassos said this was a night she really needed a friend, and Turner reminded her that she is on the right path.

“I will always have a little bit of a special connection to you,” Turner admitted.

Who went home on ‘The Golden Bachelorette’ Episode 3?

Vassos ensured all the men that if they didn’t receive a rose, that it didn’t mean she didn’t care for them. The men who went home on Episode 3 of “The Golden Bachelorette” were:
