The Golden Bachelorette’s Chock Chapple seems like a wonderful man with a good heart, but I think his attachment to his hometown could cause trouble in their relationship. While the two seem to love each other, and could overcome the challenge that dividing time between three cities brings, the fact that Chock’s so comfortable in Wichita, Kansas might be a red flag. When it comes to Wichita, he’s as all-American as apple pie and the Fourth of July.
Wichita brings out the patriot in his soul – it’s like a Norman Rockwell fantasy. Wichita is his USA paradise. Naturally, when a person loves a place that much, they don’t really want to leave it too often. Asking Chock to travel all the time is like asking Mickey Mouse to leave Disneyland. Yes, Mickey might pop up in other cities, making the scene and thrilling fans, but his heart’s always in the Magic Kingdom.
Chock May Resent Traveling To Other Cities
Home Is Where The Heart Is
In the clip shown above, Chock looked pleased as punch while introducing Joan to his Wichita friends. However, the fact that so many people were there shows just how entrenched he is in his community. Chock loves the city – he owns a company, Insurance Services Group, and a couple of beautiful houses, one of which has a “man cave” outbuilding.
Yes, Joan was gracious while interacting with Chock’s pals (she is such a classy woman), but it’s like the whole community came out to welcome Joan. It’s like Chock’s the King of Wichita.
This creates a little pressure. The more time Joan spends in Wichita, the more she may realize that it’s where Chock wants to be – it’s where he’s the happiest. Meanwhile, she might feel the same sense of contentment when she’s in Rockville, Maryland. They’re searching for a New York City love nest, but they haven’t found one yet. Possibly, this three-city plan could get tedious. Chock, in a previous Instagram post, mentioned that he was tired of traveling.
Maybe he travels for Joan so he can keep her happy. While some aspects of their relationship and inner worlds are private, as they should be, it’s interesting that the two, who added the post above on both of their Instagram pages, chose the song, Jubel by Klingande. The lyrics, while somewhat cryptic, don’t seem really joyous. One verse is:
It’s like I’ve seen
the light but you
have never known
Save me
Those lyrics seem a bit melancholy – they appear to convey some wistfulness, perhaps about a relationship. Hopefully, Joan had a lot of fun during her Wichita meet and greet. If she feels comfortable in the city, she might be more likely to make it her full-time home. That would make Chock very happy. He seems unwilling to leave Wichita.
Chock May Want To Live In Wichita Full-Time
He Is So Content In His City
Chock leaves Wichita but maybe he’d rather not. He glows while he talks about his hometown. If you haven’t been there, you might find that Wichita’s the perfect vacation destination. It’s the perfect blend of old and new. Visitors can enjoy the modern-day charms of downtown Wichita, with its Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center, and then explore Old Town Wichita, which is also downtown. It features The Museum of World Treasures.
The city’s an exciting cultural hub, where blind and visually-impaired art fans can enjoy installations that feature Braille. It’s also an inclusive place, where a Keeper Of The Plains statue, made from metal, with a stylized and striking design, reminds residents and tourists of the legacy of the indigenous tribes. The statue is surrounded by fire pits called Rings of Fire.
Chock’s very attached to Wichita. He’s put down roots in the vibrant locale, buying two houses and a boat. He also has a two-story man cave. The Kansas City Chiefs fan loves football and cooking fun food to enjoy during games. When Chock and his posse aren’t sipping drinks in the man cave or his fancy kitchen, they sometimes make the scene at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. They probably love watching the Chiefs’ star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.
Chock’s so comfortable in his city that leaving may feel more like a chore than a joy. However, for Joan, he is willing to do almost anything, short of actually moving to Rockville full-time. The thing is, relationships where people flit around a lot, just like Hollywood A-listers, are often unstable.
Chock appears to be well-to-do, and can apparently afford to purchase a New York City love nest with Joan, although they haven’t found one yet – however, that doesn’t mean that all the traveling doesn’t take its toll. Traveling can be fun, but sometimes, it’s aggravating. There can be delays and issues that keep couples apart. Joan and Chock have already spent a lot of time apart, and they don’t feel like they know each other well enough to get married.
Chock has actually complained about traveling a lot – it sounds like he’s over it, but Chock and Joan’s three-city life plan is barely up and running. In the future, he may find that running around all the time just gets exhausting, and wish he had a partner who would move for him. Any type of long-distance relationship is going to add another layer of complication.
Joan May Never Move To Wichita
Their Love Story Might Have A Different Ending
I believe that this relationship will have a better chance of lasting if one person moves for the other. Both “halves” of this duo were accustomed to traditional relationships. Both sadly lost their partners to cancer. Joan recently grieved her late husband’s John Vassos’ passing on Thanksgiving. Before that, they lived in the same cities as their loved ones. They lived with their partners and had “typical” lives. Later, Joan’s journey with Chock began, as seen above.
Now, they are trying something different. Maybe they’ll find that the traditional model is popular for a good reason – because it fosters closeness between both “halves.” Hopefully, no matter what, The Golden Bachelorette stars will make things work.
