The Golden Bachelor wedding saw tons of emotion as Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist finally tied the knot, but it wasn’t exactly a perfect event.
Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist have returned from their honeymoon days after tying the knot on national television.
The Golden Wedding oozed drama and emotion, bringing everyone in attendance and at home to tears multiple times.
Fan favorite Susan Noles couldn’t even contain herself as she struggled to officiate the wedding while choking up.
The couple’s special day will definitely be something that Bachelor Nation will talk about for years to come, but it wasn’t as perfect as some fans might think.
Despite having the backing of a major network, ABC, to fund its extravagance and hype it up, the Golden Wedding did not perform well in terms of viewership.
The broadcast nuptials reached an audience of 5.22 million total viewers and averaged a .63 rating among the key adults 18-49 demographic according to National Live+Same Day data from Nielsen (per Variety).
A majority of the show’s viewership stemmed from linear and streaming delayed-viewing.
Which means that number is likely to change with the release of multiplatform+7 day data, which will become available at a later date.
Regardless, the wedding failed to secure as many viewers as the show saw throughout its run this fall.
In comparison, The Golden Bachelor’s season finale which aired on November 30, managed to snag 6.1 million viewers.
That was a series high, making it the most-watched episode of any series in the Bachelor franchise since the conclusion of Matt James’ season in 2021.
Over the course of the season, the show averaged 4.83 million total viewers and a rating of .60 among the key demo.
So, the The Golden Wedding outdelivered the show’s fall average by 8% in Total Viewers 5% the demo.
When the show premiered last September, it quickly became the Bachelor franchise’s biggest debut since 2021 with 4.4 million viewers.
Fast national data from Nielsen reveals viewership later steadied.
