The Golden Bachelor producers recently revealed a shocking update about the next franchise lead amid one Golden alum being cast in General Hospital. The Golden Bachelorette season 1 wrapped up in November 2024, with lead Joan Vassos getting engaged to Chock Chapple. Now, fans are looking ahead to The Golden Bachelor season 2, as Spring is the season the lead would typically be chosen for a Fall 2025 premiere. Typically, The Bachelor franchise has selected a lead from the previous season’s cast, but that may change going forward.
In a surprising announcement from reality TV TikToker, @zacharyreality, who was tapped by The Golden Bachelor producers to make a post, they shared a casting update. Behind the TikToker leading the annoouncement, was a Golden Bachelor casting call announcement. The post said The Golden Bachelor was searching for “Single Senior Men” to apply for the lead choice. @zacharyreality commentated that:
“You could apply or nominate someone at GoldenBachelorcasting.com. So if you know someone handsome, charismatic, charming, definitely single, whether it’s your dad, your uncle, your brother, your grandfather, please nominate them!”
What Golden Bachelor Producers Casting Outside Golden Bachelorette Means
They’re Missing A Golden Opportunity
Historically, the format of The Bachelor franchise shows has been to cast the lead from the memorable and popular cast members from the last season. That wasn’t the case with The Golden Bachelor season 1, as it was the pilot season. A casting call, like the one presented above, was widespread, and that’s how lead, Gerry Turner, was chosen. The Golden Bachelorette stuck to the familiar Bachelor format, as Gerry Turner’s season 1 love interest, Joan, was chosen as the The Golden Bachelorette lead.
With this casting call, comes the larger question of why The Golden Bachelor isn’t looking internally as they did with The Golden Bachelorette. There were several good lead choices, like Charles Ling (the internet’s boyfriend), Pascal Ibgui, and runner-up Guy Gansert, who recently got a surprise role on General Hospital. Mark Anderson, Bachelor 28 winner Kelsey Anderson’s dad, was also a suspected shoo-in, but he is no longer single.
It could be that Charles doesn’t want the role, that producers don’t think Pascal would be a good fit, and that Guy wants to pursue acting. Either way, opening up the casting is an irregular move for the franchise. However, it could prove to draw in wide viewership, just as newcomer Gerry did.
The show could be missing a Golden opportunity by not giving the people what they want in having Charles Ling be the lead, but time will tell.
Our Take On Golden Producers Looking Beyond Golden Bachelorette Cast
The Golden Franchise Is Headed In A New Direction
There are only two weeks left of casting, and the casting call means the franchise is looking for “a fresh face, a new guy, someone ready and looking for love.” The viability among the obvious choices from The Golden Bachelorette season 1 could be the reason why The Golden Bachelor is headed in the new direction of an unknown character. It’s unclear whether this will become the trend with the Golden franchise, but it’s an exciting idea as a continuing option. Fans were enamored with Gerry Turner, and now the potential for casting someone new and just as notable as him is there.
