Gerry Turner is returning to his home in Indiana now that he and Theresa Nist have filed for divorce. The house was his dream home with his late wife Toni.
It’s understandable why Gerry Turner didn’t want to leave his Indiana home.
The Golden Bachelor, 71, has a lakeside property in LaGrange County, Indiana, where he will return to now that he’s split with Theresa Nist. The couple have only been married for three months but they announced their divorce in April.
The main issue for the couple was distance. They both have families, including grandchildren, in their respective states: Gerry in Indiana and Theresa in New Jersey.
While they had initially compromised to move to Charleston, South Carolina, those plans never came to fruition.
The Sun reported his Indiana home is currently worth $637,700. It has four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms across two floors.
In total, the house has 2,000 square feet with a concrete patio, wood deck and open frame porch. Its porch looks out onto the lake, where Gerry spends his time boating.
Gerry purchased the “dream home” on Big Long Lake after his late wife Toni retired in 2017. The plan was for the two of them to enjoy it together.
Shortly after closing on it, however, she became ill, passing away shortly after. Before going on the show, he said the water reminded him of her.
“Everytime I look at that lake, I go, ‘This is her dream. This is what she deserves. Why am I standing here alone?’”
The Sun reported the home was built in 2007 and has a living room, finished basement and garage. One of his favorite local spots, Shady Nook Inn, is located within walking distance of his home.
