Bachelor nation is in uncharted territory with the latest concept: the Golden Bachelor. Normally the bachelor of the season is 20-something and child-free, but not Gerry Turner. Turner, 72, is the first-ever Golden Bachelor, looking for love after his high school sweetheart and wife of 43 years, Toni, passed away in 2017. Gerry and his late wife share two adult daughters together and now two granddaughters. The Golden Bachelor premieres September 28 on ABC and will stream on Hulu.
Who is Gerry Turner’s family?
Gerry and Toni had their eldest daughter, Jennifer ‘Jenny’ Young, the same year they got married. Jenny is now 49 and married to Jon Young. Jenny lives with her husband and two daughters in Holt, Michigan. Jenny’s oldest daughter (Gerry’s first grandchild) is named Payton or ‘Pay.’ She is 22 and just graduated from Adrian College where she was a member of the Acrobatic and Tumbling team. Payton’s younger sister Charlee, 16, is still in high school. She plays volleyball, and seems to be very excited about her grandfather’s reality TV debut, per her Instagram posts.
Gerry’s younger daughter is named Angela ‘Angie’ Warner, 41. She is the vice president of sales at Assessments 24×7. Warner graduated from the University of Iowa in 2004 and married her husband in 2019.
The sisters seem to be very close by the looks of Angie’s Facebook profile. It also seems that Gerry’s daughters and granddaughters played a big role in encouraging him to apply to be on the Bachelor. We’re sure Gerry’s family will play a role in the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor, weighing in on Gerry’s potential love interests. It’s sure to be an interesting season, but what else would you expect from the Bachelor franchise?
