Gerry Turner has left Golden Bachelor fans reeling after he made a “wack” comment by likening his decision to send Faith home to the death of his wife.
The Golden Bachelor fanbase has called out Gerry Turner once again.
After a nail-biting week of deliberation, fans have finally learned who ABC’s first golden bachelor Gerry, 72, decided to send home out of his three remaining women – who were Faith, Theresa, and Leslie.
Unfortunately, Faith’s quest to make Gerry her man fell short in episode seven after Gerry decided to give the other two ladies a rose each.
Faith was then sent home after sharing a graceful but still emotional goodbye with Gerry, which she admitted in the limo left her feeling “numb.”
And it wasn’t Gerry’s decision to send Faith home that infuriated fans but in fact, the comment he made to explain his feelings towards the situation.
As fans will know, Gerry has broken a lot of hearts this season and has certainly had a tough time doing so.
When he discussed what goes through his mind at the times of these difficult break-ups, Gerry likened the choice to the tragic death of his wife Toni, who passed away on July 15th.
The comparison didn’t sit well with fans who stormed to Reddit to fume their anger under a discussion thread titled, “The Golden Bachelor | S1E7 | Episode Discussion”.
One shocked fan @Worldly-Ad9434 pointed out: “Breaking up with someone is Close second to your wife dying? That is WACK!”
Another fan @WeMakeLemonade agreed, writing: “That was literally the one thing that had me yelling at the TV!!! I couldn’t believe he actually said that.
“I’m not sure what their family dynamic is like, but if I was his daughter, I’d be upset to hear that from him,” they went on to say.
However, one viewer @Bananer_Nanner jumped to Gerry’s defense, pointing out: “We all say things when we’re emotional that we don’t mean.
“In those moments, the world can feel like it’s ending, regardless of what caused it. Everyone feels free to judge but forget he’s a real human being who isn’t perfect all the time, just like the rest of us,” the fan added.
Although the user did agree: “I’m sure his daughter was upset and I’m sure Gerry was upset he said that when he watched it back. But he probably knows, in that moment, it felt like that because of how high his emotions were.”
Elsewhere in episode seven, Gerry was reunited with the women he had rejected on his quest to find love again at the Women Tell All special, where everyone had a chance to make their feelings known.
Faith was given a chance to confront Gerry about what his decision to send her home did to her emotionally, admitting that “it shattered me.”
Gerry then came out for their face-to-face meeting, and both broke down in tears as they shared a hug and discussed their journey together.
