Gina Rodriguez Joins ‘Will Trent’ Season 3 as Series Lead
ABC’s Will Trent will have a new ADA in season 3, played by Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin).

Based on the NY Times bestselling “Will Trent” book series by Karin Slaughter, the show follows Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agent (Ramón Rodriguez), who was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh upbringing in Atlanta’s overburdened foster care system. Now, Will uses his unique perspective to pursue justice and has the highest clearance rate in the GBI.

Gina Rodriguez will play Marion Alba, a confident, charismatic Assistant District Attorney newly arrived in Atlanta. After a first encounter with Will that doesn’t go well, the pair are surprised to learn they must team up to investigate a crime in Atlanta’s gang world.

Will and Angie (Erika Christensen) have been pretty hot and cold in season 2, could Marion show up to stir things up? Mind you, this is just my own speculation, but wouldn’t a love triangle storyline be interesting? Maybe it could push Will and Angie closer together or end their romance for good.

The series also stars Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell, and Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood.

Gina Rodriguez’s casting expands her relationship with ABC/Disney after co-hosting the game show Lucky 13, currently airing on the network, with Shaquille O’Neal. Prior to that, she was the star and executive producer of ABC’s Not Dead Yet and Disney+’s Diary of a Future President.
