Gina Carano Opens Up About Her Star Wars Firing & The Legal Fight Against Disney: “I Curled into a Fetal Position”

Gina Carano gained significant recognition as Cara Dune in the first two seasons of ‘The Mandalorian.’ Initially, there were plans for both the actress and her character, including a standalone show. However, these plans changed due to controversial social media posts where Carano made comparisons and touched on sensitive topics that clashed with Disney’s image.

In a matter of hours, Carano lost her spinoff and her job, learning about it through the press. It’s clear she still harbors resentment towards the studio for her abrupt firing. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Carano shared her initial reaction to the firing and other related issues.

I just laid down and cried and cried. I curled into a fetal position. It’s not that I didn’t think that something like that could happen. It was that I couldn’t imagine they would put out this horrendous statement about me after working with me — the most powerful entertainment company in the world saying that about me.

Carano learned a tough lesson about the corporate world and the influence of media and social networks. She sold her home in Hermosa Beach and bought an RV, embarking on a three-week journey to Nashville. There, she teamed up with The Daily Wire, who hired her to star in and produce a film titled ‘Terror on the Prairie,’ directed by Michael Polish. The movie premiered on The Daily Wire website on June 14, 2022. Despite facing online ridicule over reported low earnings of $804, Carano clarified that the film was meant for direct distribution to Daily Wire subscribers, not for theatrical release.

Then, a month ago, Carano decided to sue Disney for unlawful termination. Elon Musk has offered to finance her legal battle, possibly due to his own grievances with Disney and his strong support for free speech. Musk is extending financial support to anyone who believes they were unfairly treated by their company due to their personal views and chooses to pursue legal action.

If you were unfairly treated by your employer due to posting or liking something on this platform, we will fund your legal bill. No limit.

Carano received support from Musk, even though she never directly discussed the issue with him.

I think it’s pretty incredible what he is doing. A lot of billionaires put their money into buying islands and building bunkers. Elon Musk is using his money to fight massive injustice battles.

The outcome of the legal battle is uncertain. What are your thoughts on the matter? Share in the comments below!
