Ghosts Season 4 left us on the edge of our seats after Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) accidentally made a deal with the devil, putting him in the hot seat for Season 5. Season 4 was a bit of a roller coaster for Jay as he opened his restaurant, introduced his parents, and even got to meet the ghosts face to face. When Sheila Carrasco spoke to Collider ahead of the finale, she told us it would leave us nervous, and now she’s theorizing about how Flower could potentially help Jay out of this hellish pickle. During the latest episode of Collider Ladies Night, Carrasco spoke to series host Perri Nemiroff about a wide range of topics, including how her pregnancy shaped the writing of Season 3, working on The Good Place, and standout Season 4 moments like that hotbox scene and Flower’s take-down of Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky) and Trevor (Asher Grodman).
When Nemiroff suggested that perhaps Flower’s law background may come in handy in attempting to get Jay out of his contract with Elias (Matt Walsh), Carrasco was delighted by the theory, saying, “Oh, that’s brilliant, Perri. I think that I would love that. Flower would love nothing more. Yeah, I just hope she can get it together.” While she admitted that she doesn’t know any of the details for Season 5 yet — including whether the writers have even made that decision — Carrasco is all for Flower being integral to the plot to help save Jay’s soul from hell. She went on to say:
“I think there’s absolutely a possibility. I really truly know nothing. I don’t know that the Joes or the writers know anything yet either, but I would love it if she could make it up to Jay. Because that was a big snafu. Giving all of the cooks cholera. But you know, like I said to Sam in her defense, she thought she was saving everyone’s lives. I do believe that whenever Flower goes for something, it’s wholehearted and it’s with good intentions. She would never do anything to like really, even if it was like, ‘Okay, yeah, well, the restaurant might be kind of messed up.’ But like, if she actually thought that the restaurant was gonna exist the next day, she probably would have, you know, second guessed, even that move.
I think she definitely has room to do that. How she does it is the bigger question. I think being able to unlock a more lucid side of her, I think would be the first challenge. And that really excites me to figure out. How can Flower figure out how to, I don’t know, sober up or stay lucid? I think that would be really fun. Or even just to improve her memory. Are there pneumonic devices she can use? You know, something kind of fun and goofy. We’ll see.”
Sheila Carrasco Wants to Bring Back Season 2’s Ghost Court
While Carrasco can only theorize about Season 5 at the moment, she’s already got an idea to bring back one of Season 2’s most fun pieces of lore: Ghost Court. In Season 2, after Hetty confessed that she’d known the whole time that her son had murdered Alberta (Danielle Pinnock), the conflict between the two got so tense that the house had to take Hetty to ghost court to resolve the issue. Carrasco wants to see the court in session again in Season 5, and she’s got a great idea for a future B story. She told Collider:
“I would love a ghost court B story. You remember the ghost court? Where there was one where we did a ghost court when Hetty was on trial. It was a B story. That made us so happy to do, that that even exists. So I think that could definitely come back one day. And wouldn’t it be fun if like Isaac and Flower were opposing counsel?“
Ghosts will return for Season 5 this fall on CBS.
