Things aren’t looking so golden, anymore.
On Thursday night’s season finale of “The Golden Bachelor,” star Gerry Turner, 72, made his choice between Minnesota native Leslie Fhima, 64, and New Jersey’s Theresa Nist, 70.
In the end, Turner went with Nist.
However, amid reports that he had an alleged secret girlfriend, his runner-up contestant claimed that he “lied” to her.
On the episode, after Turner broke the news that Nist was his choice, Fhima said, “So everything you told me the other night was a lie,” referring to their overnight date.
“The other night, you made it sound like you chose me,” she said to Turner.
“You said things to me that made me think that this was going to be it. You led me down a path, and then you took a turn and left me there, and that’s how I feel. It’s mind-boggling, to be honest, how you can talk to me all night, tell me you love me, and then one day — not even a day, 12 hours later — you changed your mind.”
The exes, however, were much more amicable when they reunited and spoke about their split during the Thursday episode.
The finale aired amid reports that Turner allegedly had a secret girlfriend before joining the show.
On the show, Turner claimed that he hasn’t had a serious relationship since his wife died. However, a woman who claims to have dated him is accusing the reality star of dumping her because she gained weight.
The woman, who spoke to the Hollywood Reporter and wanted to be identified only as “Carolyn,” claims she dated Turner for 10 months before moving into his home on Big Long Lake in Hudson, Indiana.
Carolyn said she moved into Turner’s lake house in July 2018 and the relationship came to a close ahead of his high school reunion in October 2019.
“I’m not taking you to the reunion looking like that,” Carolyn claims Turner told her, gesturing to her body as she had gained 10 pounds due to stress.
Carolyn claimed she also suffered an injury after falling down the stairs while packing up her things, which resulted in a trip to the emergency room.
Turner apparently wasn’t home at the time of the fall and allegedly blamed Carolyn for doing it on purpose in order to extend her stay in the home.
This is a different picture than the sensitive widower image he painted on the show. The “Golden Bachelor” finale did not address the allegations during Thursday’s episode.
On a lighter note, he also seemingly wasn’t truthful to his kids, because Nist was one of the first women on the show that he kissed — something Turner had promised his kids, whom he shared with his high school sweetheart Toni before she died in 2017, he would not do.
“I promised my daughters and granddaughters that I would not kiss anyone on Night 1. And I failed,” Turner told The Post before the show’s premiere.
When ABC posted a new promo video with Gerry on Instagram, he was slammed in the comments.
“Gerry is a fake,” one person wrote. “And Theresa is a desperate whiny clingy woman who hangs on Gerry’s every word. He married her for her money.”
Another person wrote, “Really sad he was portrayed as someone he’s not.”
“Was excited. No longer excited, as I know this man is not how he portrays himself,” another fan complained.
“Turns out Gerry has been dishonest about his business and dating before the golden bachelor, including a mean and nasty breakup,” another commenter slammed him, referring to Carolyn’s allegations.
“Now I understand why he sent all those classy women home. Looks like this guy wants someone insecure who he can control. Bachelor needs to screen their candidates more carefully.”
Others, however, came to Turner’s defense, as many fans wished the newly engaged couple “congratulations” in the comments.
Turner and Nist’s wedding will be broadcast live on ABC on Jan. 4, 2024.
