Actor Christopher Gorham is moving from one CBS program to another. After recurring this season on Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Gorham has been tapped for a major role in the upcoming Fire Country spinoff Sheriff Country.
According to Deadline, Gorham will star as Travis, a lawyer and Sheriff Mickey Fox’s (Morena Baccarin) ex-husband. Together, they have a daughter, Skye, whom they’ve helped through addiction struggles. Despite their many differences, Travis and Mickey might still harbor feelings for each other. The actor recently appeared in the first season of the Chuck Lorre hit comedy Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage as Scott, the boss and ex-boyfriend of Emily Osment’s character Mandy.
First announced by CBS in early 2024, Sheriff Country follows straight-shooting sheriff Mickey Fox (Baccarin), the stepsister of Cal Fire’s division chief Sharon Leone (Diane Farr of Fire Country), who investigates criminal activity as she patrols the streets of small-town Edgewater while contending with her ex-con father and a mysterious incident involving her wayward daughter.
Who Else Stars in Sheriff Country?
Briarpatch star Michele Weaver has also boarded the spinoff in the role of Cassidy, a deputy in the Edgewater County Sheriff’s Office who was inspired by Mickey to join law enforcement. Cassidy places Mickey on a pedestal but must now figure out what kind of deputy she wants to be. The series also stars W. Earl Brown as Wes, an off-the-grid marijuana grower, Sheriff Mickey Fox’s father, and stepfather of Sharon Leone. Wes lives a semi-reclusive life in the mountains of Edgewater, allowing only a select few to know the location of his marijuana grow operation. This illegal business creates tension with his daughter, Mickey, the local sheriff.
While Sheriff Country serves as the first offshoot of Fire Country, CBS President and CEO George Cheeks has previously hinted that it won’t be the last. “We are focused on mass-appeal franchises,” he said in June 2023. “This season’s number one show was Fire Country, which completely lends itself to building out a whole new universe…It became very clear that not only was the show special, it really felt like this could be a great example of us building together a franchise from scratch.”
