After Young Sheldon, producer Steve Holland is looking to bring Sheldon in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The boy genius officially wrapped up his childhood in Texas in the emotional Young Sheldon finale. Despite spending years diversifying its storytelling, The Big Bang Theory prequel wrapped things up by properly transitioning Sheldon to his new life in California, as he began his post-grad studies at Caltech. Back at home, however, life will continue for the Coopers. Granted that it won’t be the same as Young Sheldon, the offshoot will essentially move on via Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Upon confirming that Zoe Perry, Raegan Revord, and Annie Potts will be reprising their roles as Mary, Missy, and Meemaw in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Holland responds to TV Line’s questions about the chances of seeing Iain Armitage as Sheldon in the offshoot as well. While it doesn’t seem like there are concrete plans for his return, he says that they already have an idea of how to bring him back to Texas for the Young Sheldon sequel. Read his full quote below:
“Like we’ve always said, this is a world where this family exists and can be a part of this world. We love all these actors. Sheldon is in Pasadena going to school, but I think for a Christmas or a Thanksgiving [episode], we would love to have him stop by.
“This is a world where these actors can keep coming and playing. We don’t want to make it a ‘guest star of the week’ thing, but they’re a part of this world.”
Why Sheldon Needs To Appear In Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage
Sheldon Is Still Part Of The Cooper Family
Out of all the remaining Coopers, seeing Sheldon back for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is the trickiest to pull off. After George’s death and funeral in Young Sheldon, the boy genius officially left Texas for California, where he would spend the next several decades. Meanwhile, Mary, Missy, and Meemaw remain in Medford, just across town from where Georgie, Mandy, and Baby Cece live. If anything, it will be more of a problem if they don’t show up at the McAllisters to check up on the family often. Sheldon, on the other hand, has to have a specific reason for appearing.
Sheldon’s homecoming, either for an academic break or a holiday, should be enough reason for the Coopers to gather again in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage .
Despite that, it’s still imperative that CBS’ Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage gets Sheldon involved. Admittedly, the boy genius doesn’t have the closest relationship with his brother, but considering the tragic loss that they just experienced, Sheldon also needs support. Granted that being in a different environment and attending his dream school will likely help distract him from the sad reality, but at some point, he will have to come back home to Texas. Sheldon’s homecoming, either for an academic break or a holiday, should be enough reason for the Coopers to gather again in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Jim Parsons’ Sheldon Cooper won’t be in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage as a series regular, but luckily, he has the perfect replacement.
The good thing is that Holland and the rest of the team seem keen on bringing back Armitage. While Young Sheldon eventually stopped being solely about his character, he is still a vital part of the franchise. The character is Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’s primary link to The Big Bang Theory, which is the universe’s flagship series. Most importantly, it is the only time that the family can be seen complete until several decades later during Sheldon and Amy’s wedding.
