At least three main cast members from Young Sheldon will return for the upcoming spinoff series, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Fans will not have to wait too long to see the characters return, but it shouldn’t be expected for them to stick around for long.
Previously, it was revealed that the new spinoff would see guest appearances from Zoe Perry (Mary), Annie Potts (Meemaw), and Raegan Revord (Missy). Speaking with TVLine, executive producer Steve Molaro shared exactly which episodes will feature the returning Cooper family members. He suggested that they’d be limited to appearing in the first two episodes, with two guest starring in the pilot and another popping up in the second episode.
Chuck Lorre shares the latest update on the Big Bang Theory spinoff in development at Max.
“Zoe and Annie are in the first episode, and Raegan will be in the second episode,” Molaro said.

It still hasn’t been officially confirmed if Iain Armitage will also make an appearance as Sheldon Cooper. While there is a storyline explanation for why he won’t be with the other Cooper family members at the start of the season, the door remains open for Sheldon to make an appearance later on in the series. Executive producer Steve Holland teased that a holiday episode would be the perfect opportunity to make that guest appearance happen.
Bob Newhart, who made several appearances in The Big Bang Theory and its spinoff series, was honored by stars from both shows.
“Like we’ve always said, this is a world where this family exists and can be a part of this world,” he said. “We love all these actors. Sheldon is in Pasadena going to school, but I think for a Christmas or a Thanksgiving [episode], we would love to have him stop by.”
Holland added, “This is a world where these actors can keep coming and playing. We don’t want to make it a ‘guest star of the week’ thing, but they’re a part of this world.”
Iain Armitage Is Open to Returning as Sheldon Cooper
“If I got a call to go back, that’d be so much fun. I’d be honored to,” Armitage himself said of a possible return in a previous interview with TVLine. “I’m also just excited to get to sit back on my couch with some popcorn and watch their show because they’re so good. But I could totally see myself getting in the khakis again, putting on the old penny loafers and bow tie, and going back out on the job.”
Montana Jordan and Emily Osment lead the cast of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage as the titular characters. Rachel Bay Jones and Will Sasso will reprise their roles as Mandy’s parents, now serving as series regulars. Other main characters will include Mandy’s brother, Connor, who’s now played by Dougie Baldwin, as well as Jessie Prez’s Ruben, an employee of Jim’s tire story who’s not thrilled about Georgie getting hired.
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 17 on CBS.
