Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Adds 2 — Including a Young Sheldon Recast

Mandy McAllister’s younger brother will look a little different when he resurfaces on Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.

The Young Sheldon spinoff has cast Dougie Baldwin (Disjointed) in the series-regular role of Connor, TVLine has learned. He succeeds Joseph Apollonio, who originated the role of Mandy’s sib in a Season 6 episode of the Big Bang Theory prequel.

In Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Connor is “a talented oddball with musical prowess who still lives with his parents,” according to the official character breakdown. “Coddled by his mother, Audrey, and hassled by his father, Jim, Connor doesn’t fit in — even in his own family.”

Additionally, Jessie Prez (Griselda) has boarded the spinoff as Ruben, a long-time employee at Jim’s tire store “who is less than enthusiastic about the shop’s newest hire: Jim’s son-in-law, Georgie.”

Baldwin previously co-starred opposite Kathy Bates in the Chuck Lorre Netflix comedy Disjointed. The Aussie actor’s previous TV credits also include Upper Middle Bogan and the International Emmy Award-winning Nowhere Boys.

Prez, meanwhile, recently co-starred as infamous drug dealer Sal Magluta in Netflix’s Emmy-nominated Griselda. Additional credits include episodes of 9-1-1: Lone Star, Abbott Elementary, Bosch: Legacy, The Rookie: Feds and Shameless.

Baldwin and Prez join fellow Georgie & Mandy regulars Montana Jordan, Emily Osment, Will Sasso and Rachel Bay Jones. Young Sheldon’s Zoe Perry and Annie Potts will guest-star in the pilot, while Raegan Revord will appear in Episode 2.

The title Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is a play on previously established Big Bang Theory lore: In the hit sitcom’s 2019 series finale, Nobel Prize winner Sheldon said he received congratulatory texts from Georgie’s ex-wife… and Georgie’s other ex-wife.

During a recent interview with TVLine, Osment expressed hope that the new show would find a way to undo (or at the very least tinker with) Georgie’s marital history.

“I’m hoping that I’m the ex-wife and the new wife,” she said. “People get divorced and remarried. Why can’t she be both?”

Judging by the title, it sounds like that’s precisely what producers have in mind.

Unlike single-camera comedy Young Sheldon, multi-cam Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will shoot in front of a live studio audience — just like The Big Bang Theory. The highly anticipated spinoff premieres Thursday, Oct. 17, at 8/7c, on CBS.
