A The Big Bang Theory character could appear in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage if one Young Sheldon sequel star succeeds in his endeavor to bring him in. More than a month since Young Sheldon ended, some of its cast and crew who are confirmed to return for its spinoff are already back at work at the Warner Bros. lot, where it will be filmed. Besides its main premise, which is following Georgie and Mandy as they navigate their new life as a married couple, plot specifics about the project are still scant.
If Emily Osment gets her way, however, adult Georgie from The Big Bang Theory will be in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, as she reveals to ET. According to the actor, she is personally working to get Jerry O’Connell to reprise his original franchise character in the Young Sheldon sequel project. Read her full quote below:
I run into Jerry O’Connell so much in my neighborhood, who of course plays older Georgie, and I’m trying to figure out how to get him back on in some way. Maybe he’ll be the narrator. I actually have not read anything yet but we’re starting fairly soon and we’re still in the process of pre-production.
How Jerry O’Connell’s Adult Georgie From TBBT Can Appear In George & Mandy’s First Marriage
Jim Parsons’ Young Sheldon Role Can Be The Template
O’Connell was the final member of the Coopers to appear in The Big Bang Theory. He only debuted in the season 11 penultimate episode, ahead of Sheldon tying the knot with Amy. As it turns out, George and Mary’s sons had a falling out and were not on speaking terms for years. They were forced to reconcile after their mother threatened not to attend Sheldon’s wedding. Like Missy, Georgie may have only had a small role in The Big Bang Theory, but he made a big enough impact that many were curious to learn more about him in Young Sheldon.
If O’Connell wants to be more involved, he could have a bigger role by doing occasional cameos for big episodes, instead of saving his only physical appearance at the end of the offshoot’s run.
As Osment suggests, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage can follow Young Sheldon‘s suit and bring O’Connell as adult Georgie from the future. His narration can bookend episodes, the same way Jim Parsons’ voiceovers did. If O’Connell wants to be more involved, he could have a bigger role by doing occasional cameos for big episodes, instead of saving his only physical appearance at the end of the offshoot’s run. Considering the timeline limitations, these are the only options that Osment has right now, but at the very least, they’re easy to do, which increases the chances of them happening.
As the hit series Young Sheldon comes to an end after seven seasons, it has now been announced that a spinoff will continue the story.
Both narrative choices will allow the spinoff to show George and Mandy’s life after The Big Bang Theory. Per the title and emphasized by its updated logo, the couple will eventually have a second marriage. The only reason why they have to split up is because of The Big Bang Theory‘s established canon. Despite the countless plot inconsistencies that Young Sheldon created, in the end, it proved that it cared about continuity, hence why it ended despite still being very popular.
