TVLine confirms that Zoe Perry, Annie Potts, and Raegan Revord will reprise their roles as Mary, Meemaw, and Missy in Episode 5. Craig T. Nelson, known for his recurring role as Meemaw’s on-and-off boyfriend Dale Ballard, will also guest-star.
Potts shared the exciting news on Instagram, posting a behind-the-scenes video featuring Perry, Revord, and Nelson, alongside spinoff stars Montana Jordan (Georgie), Emily Osment (Mandy), Rachel Bay Jones (Audrey), Will Sasso (Jim), and newcomers Dougie Baldwin (Mandy’s brother Connor) and Jessie Prez (as tire store employee Ruben).
As previously reported, Perry and Potts will first appear in the series premiere on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 8/7c, while Revord will return as Missy in Episode 2, airing Thursday, Oct. 24. An airdate for Episode 5 has yet to be announced.
Notably missing from the Cooper/McAllister family gathering is 14-year-old Sheldon, who relocated to Pasadena for Caltech in the last episode of Young Sheldon. In a recent interview with TVLine, Armitage expressed his eagerness to reprise the role, saying, “I’d be honored to come back. It would be so much fun. But I’m also excited to just watch their show—it’s going to be great!”
During a recent conference call, executive producer Steve Holland discussed the connection between the two shows. “We’re fortunate to have this shared history, but we aim to make Georgie & Mandy accessible to new viewers,” he said. “There are plenty of Easter eggs for longtime fans, but we want to ensure everyone feels welcomed. The Young Sheldon family still lives in Medford, and there are many opportunities for them to pop in, which we’ve already done this season.”
