Lance Barber and Zoe Perry recently reunited on the set of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, but one of their Young Sheldon kids is noticeably missing. As the Big Bang Theory universe prepares to expand with this latest installment, the cast, including Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, continues to work on the upcoming series. Set a few months after the finale of Young Sheldon, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will follow Georgie’s journey in Texas. While none of Georgie’s family members will be regulars in the new series, some familiar faces are confirmed to return.
In a recent Instagram post by Haley Joel Osment, Perry and Barber are pictured on set, but Iain Armitage, who plays Sheldon, is notably absent. Check out the photo below:
The photo was taken in the McAllisters’ living room for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Alongside Lance Barber and Zoe Perry, familiar faces include Raegan Revord, who portrayed Missy in Young Sheldon, and Montana Jordan. With Mary and George’s two children present, the absence of Iain Armitage becomes even more noticeable.
Will Barber’s George Appear in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage?
While Barber isn’t styled as George typically was in Young Sheldon, his presence suggests he was there to support his former co-stars rather than to film a scene. Given the appearances of Perry’s Mary and Revord’s Missy, it’s likely this photo was taken during the live studio taping of the Thanksgiving episode for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, which will also serve as a reunion for the Coopers following the events of Young Sheldon. The episode will feature Annie Potts as Meemaw and Craig T. Nelson as Dale.
The finale of Young Sheldon feels even more poignant after learning about Barber’s secret involvement in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Just because Barber isn’t reprising his role in this particular episode doesn’t mean he won’t appear in the series at all. Although George passed away in Young Sheldon, there are creative ways to bring back this beloved character, such as through flashbacks or visions, similar to how The Big Bang Theory handled Arthur Jeffries after Professor Proton’s death. Given Barber’s strong ties with his former co-stars, it shouldn’t be too difficult to convince him to return as the Cooper patriarch.
Our Take on Sheldon’s Absence in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage
It’s disappointing that Armitage isn’t part of the Cooper family reunion on the set of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Although he has attended some live studio recordings for the Young Sheldon sequel, it would have been wonderful to see the entire family back together, even if they are in the McAllisters’ home rather than their own. The good news is that the producers are actively seeking a way to bring Sheldon back to Texas for a fun visit with his older brother.
