A new Michael Corinthos is about to show up in Port Charles: Deadline has confirmed that Rory Gibson (The Young and the Restless) will make his first appearance May 23 on General Hospital.
“We are excited to welcome him to our show,” said a spokesperson.
Gibson is replacing Chad Duell, who appeared on the sudser for 15 years. He was last seen in GH in January.
Gibson played Noah, the son of Sharon and Nick Newman, from 2021-23. He told TV Insider that his audition process was “super top secret.”“It was super, super top secret,” he relays. “I came in and screen-tested for that with Kate Mansi [Kristina Corinthos] and Katey MacMullen [Willow Tait], and it went well. They were super warm and welcoming. A couple weeks went by, and they brought me in for another screen test with Steve Burton [Jason Morgan] and Laura Wright [Carly Spencer]. About a week after that, they locked me in, and it’s been a nice little journey ever since.”
Gibson’s previous credits include Netflix’s Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child Of Fire.
Last December, Duell told The Daily Drama Podcast that things had become “stagnant” in his life, so that’s why he stepped away from the GH role that earned him his first Daytime Emmy in 2015.
“It’s a life adjustment,” he said. “A lot of stuff’s been going on in my life. There’s a few things behind it but one thing I did say is my dad passed away and I’m still coming to terms with that.”
“I’m preparing myself for next chapters,” he saad. “Right now, I’m just trying to grow in ways that maybe I feel like I stifled myself in certain aspects, and sometimes you need to take drastic steps or make yourself feel uncomfortable to take a step.”
