The Star Wars franchise, created by George Lucas, began with the 1977 film of the same name and quickly became a global pop culture phenomenon. The series tells the adventures of characters in a galaxy far, far away, where the “Force”—a mysterious energy—controls everything.
The films have been successful both critically and commercially, winning numerous Academy Awards. According to Numbers, total box office revenue has exceeded $10 billion. Despite being a classic Hollywood franchise, the series has faced many difficulties in recent years because the story has become clichéd and it has failed to establish a large fan base in Asia like the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
