Tracker star Justin Hartley recently discussed the upcoming second season, revealing his hopes for the show to continue exploring Colter Shaw’s relationship with his on-screen brother, Russell (Jensen Ackles). Russell Shaw will feature more prominently in Tracker Season 2, which premieres on October 27. In an interview with Collider, Hartley talked about what he’d like to see with the relationship between the brothers in Tracker Season 2, given the family bombshell that was dropped on Colter in the first season. “When Colter finds out exactly what’s going on — and I struggled with that because there’s so many different ways to skin this cat and I don’t know which is better or more interesting — and he learns the absolute, undeniable truth,” he said. “Does he find out from his sister? Does he find out from his brother? Does he find out from his mom? Is it a combination of all three? Is it neither? Is it Jennifer Morrison’s character coming back? Is it a new character? There are so many different ways we could do it, and they’re all interesting. I don’t know which is better.”
Despite all the drama, Hartley hopes Colter and Russell can resolve their differences by having more in-depth conversations about their childhoods in Tracker Season 2. “But it would be great if there was a resolution between the two of them. They had that when Russell came out, at the end of the show, but they could have more conversations about their childhoods,” he said. “Many times, two children who grew up in the same home have completely different memories of what happened in that home, even though they lived in the same home at the same time with the same parents and under the same circumstances.”
