Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage has cemented his name as one of television’s most beloved child stars thanks to his role as the genius Sheldon Cooper.

In his post, he thanked his followers and fans for their warm greetings and birthday wishes.

“It’s been a great few days- thanks, everyone! 17 is wonderful so far,” he wrote, along with an adorable photo of him smiling with a birthday candle in front of him.

In the comments, the internet couldn’t help but call him by his character, a reminder of how far he’s come since first stepping into the iconic character’s shoes.

Fans called him “Shelly,” an endearing term used by Sheldon Cooper’s mom, played by Zoe Perry.

“Happy Birthday, Iain. Shelii,” one wrote.
