Joan Vassos is embracing every moment of her post-Golden Bachelorette life with fiancé Chock Chapple! Their love story captivated audiences, and after finding her perfect match on the reality show, Joan is more in love than ever. But while their relationship is thriving, wedding bells aren’t ringing just yet.
Since getting engaged on the Golden finale, Joan and Chock have been navigating a long-distance romance—she resides in Rockville, Maryland, while he’s based in Wichita, Kansas. Despite the miles between them, their connection has only grown stronger.
A Love That’s Flourishing
“I fall more in love with him every day,” Joan shared in an exclusive interview. “He has a great sense of humor, he’s easy to be around, and my kids adore him. My grandson even said, ‘I don’t want that guy to go’ the last time Chock was visiting.”
Joan describes Chock as kind-hearted, family-oriented, and refreshingly low-maintenance. But even with a deep bond and growing affection, the couple has decided to hold off on setting a wedding date—for now.
Why the Wedding Plans Are on Hold
While Joan and Chock are committed to spending their future together, wedding planning has taken a backseat to their increasingly busy lives.
“I fully intend to marry him, but I don’t know if it’s this year,” Joan admitted. “We’re just so busy with opportunities we never expected.”
Between public appearances, travel, and family commitments, Joan and Chock have found their schedules packed. Planning a wedding right now feels overwhelming, and they’re content to enjoy their time together without the stress of a big event.
A Life Filled with Adventure
From romantic getaways to major events, Joan and Chock are making the most of their time together. Speaking from Carmel, California, Joan shared that they were attending the AT&T Pebble Beach golf tournament as guests of iHeartRadio. In addition to their travels, Joan has also partnered with Aspercreme, promoting an active and pain-free lifestyle.
With her energetic schedule—including chasing after grandkids and maintaining her fitness routine—Joan relies on self-care to keep up. “At the end of the day, I feel a little more achy than I used to, but I don’t want that to stop me,” she said. “I have a long future ahead, and I won’t let pain hold me back.”
Looking to the Future—At Their Own Pace
While Joan and Chock have floated the idea of buying a home in New York City, they’re taking their time with that decision too. “The inventory is low, and we don’t want to settle,” she explained. “Spring might bring more options, so we’re keeping an eye out.”
For now, their commuter relationship works well. “We never spend more than 10 to 14 days apart,” Joan said. They’ll celebrate Valentine’s Day in Philadelphia, where they’ll also attend a surprise birthday party for Joan’s son’s girlfriend.
Opposites That Attract
One thing Joan has learned about Chock? He’s incredibly laid-back—something she both admires and finds amusing.
“I stress over everything, but he doesn’t worry about a thing,” Joan laughed. “I wake up at night thinking about tiny things, like if I paid my son back five dollars! Meanwhile, Chock just says, ‘It’ll all work out.’ His easygoing nature balances me out.”
Of course, Chock’s sense of humor also keeps things interesting—sometimes to Joan’s embarrassment. “He loves making jokes, even in front of my kids,” she said, recalling a moment when he teased that she kept him up all night. “I was mortified! He just thinks it’s funny, but I have to tell him, ‘You’ve got to stop that!’”
Staying Active & Embracing Life
Though they share a love of staying fit, Joan and Chock have different workout styles. “He’s a gym guy, lifting heavy weights. I prefer working out at home with YouTube videos,” she said. “I do arm and ab workouts regularly because I refuse to have ‘old lady’ arms!”
In addition to structured workouts, Joan stays active by spending time with her grandkids, giving piggyback rides, and taking them to the park. “The cardio just happens naturally,” she said.
With an upcoming beach vacation in Mexico, Joan is feeling confident. “I always wear bikinis. I’m lucky to have a decent metabolism, and I enjoy healthy food—though I do have a chocolate habit!”
No Wedding Date? No Problem!
While Joan and Chock haven’t set a wedding date yet, their love story is unfolding in a way that feels right for them. With travel, laughter, and new experiences keeping them busy, they’re embracing the journey without rushing to the altar.
“We finally have a travel buddy to explore the world with,” Joan beamed. “And that’s something I’ve always dreamed of.”
