What made the cancellation even harder to process for Selleck was how deeply ingrained Blue Bloods had become in his routine. “It’s going to take a long time to sort all of this out,” he said. “I remember after the weekend [of the final episode’s shoot], I said, ‘I’ve got to get to bed early tonight because I have to do my dialogue for Monday.’ Well, there was no Monday. It’s just going to take a while.”

Just two months after the finale aired, CBS announced that a new spinoff series, Boston Blue, was greenlit and set to expand the Reagan saga in a fresh direction. The series will follow Donnie Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan as he accepts a new post with the Boston Police Department.
