If you’ve ever watched Young Sheldon, you probably have a soft spot for the one and only Meemaw, Sheldon’s lovely but sneaky grandmother. She strays very far from a stereotypical older lady: She runs a gambling joint, goes on lots of dates, and isn’t afraid of getting into trouble, and she always looks iconic while doing so. She also still has time to look after Sheldon, Georgie, and especially Missy, the often neglected child of the Cooper family. You may have loved her in Young Sheldon, but you definitely didn’t realise that you’ve probably been adoring her from childhood too – Meemaw actor Annie Potts has one of the most insane acting discographies I’ve ever seen, and her past is filled with random infamous roles you didn’t even know she played. Here’s a rundown of all the movies she’s been in right under your nose.
Ghostbusters

Annie Potts played the witty Janine Melnitz, and looks almost unrecognisable with short, dark hair! She was in her early thirties when she appeared in the original 1984 movie.
She’s also been in the every sequel as well as the reboots, beginning in 2016, that are still ongoing.
Toy Story

Believe it or not, Annie Potts has been in all four of the Toy Story movies, where she voiced Bo Peep. It’s hard to believe she was playing one of the most memorable characters of an infamous childhood movie series. Go Annie!
Grey’s Anatomy

Annie made an appearance in one of the most loved shows of all time, Grey’s Anatomy. She guest starred as Joyce Bosco in season 10’s episode, Map of You. I didn’t remember her cameo at first, but once I saw it I couldn’t unsee it.
Chicago Med

Similarly, she played Helen Manning on Chicago Med, Natalie Manning’s ex mother-in-law. She was a recurring character on the show.
Ugly Betty
She was a guest star on the famous series Ugly Betty, in which she appeared on season two in a very small role. Meemaw has definitely moved on to bigger and better roles on Young Sheldon now!
Pretty in Pink

If you’ve seen Sixteen Candles or The Breakfast Club, you’ll definitely want to see Pretty in Pink too. Annie plays Iona in the classic eighties teen rom-com, and rocks the coolest hairstyle while doing it.
