From Firehouse 51 to the Big Screen: Kara Killmer’s Next Chapter Begins md14

Kara Killmer is officially moving into her post-Chicago Fire era. The actress, who left the NBC drama in 2024, has signed on for her first new role since exiting the series—and it’s a big one. Killmer will appear in Jimmy, a biopic exploring the life of classic Hollywood icon James Stewart.

Starring opposite Riverdale alum KJ Apa, Killmer plays Lady Julia, a singer who performs during wartime and appears to form a close bond with Stewart. Brief moments in the film’s trailer suggest a romantic storyline, adding emotional depth to the historical drama.

Although Lady Julia does not appear to be a real figure from Stewart’s life, the character offers Killmer an opportunity to stretch creatively, combining acting and singing in a period setting. The film is slated for release on November 6, 2026.

For Chicago Fire fans, the role marks Killmer’s first step back into acting since her character Sylvie Brett married Matt Casey and relocated to Oregon. While Brett hasn’t returned to Chicago, Killmer’s career is clearly heating up once again.
