Fran Drescher Reunites with ‘The Nanny’ Cast for Heartwarming Pandemic Table Read

Fran Drescher recently brought a dose of nostalgia to fans by reuniting with her original The Nanny cast for a special table read — all over Zoom. The fun-filled reunion, which Drescher dubbed the “Pandemic Table Read,” was shared on YouTube, delighting audiences who grew up watching the iconic ’90s sitcom.

Speaking to ET’s Rachel Smith via video chat, Drescher revealed the heart behind the project:

“This is something that’s like, a really sweet gift to all of the fans around the world. Nobody is getting paid or anything. It’s just from our living rooms to yours.”

For this unique event, the entire original cast joined in, including Charles Shaughnessy, Lauren Lane, Daniel Davis, Nicholle Tom, Benjamin Salisbury, Madeline Zima, Renee Taylor, and Rachel Chagall. Even musician Ann Hampton Callaway performed the show’s instantly recognizable theme song from her home piano, adding a special touch. The table read was also guided by the show’s co-creator and executive producer, Peter Marc Jacobson.

Reflecting on the experience, Drescher said:

“Being with all of us together, it just felt so right.”

The actress also shared which other beloved sitcom ensembles she’d love to see reunite for similar table reads, naming Friends, Seinfeld, and Everybody Loves Raymond as some of her favorites.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Drescher has been self-isolating at home, with only her new puppy, Angel Grace, for company. She introduced the adorable canine to fans, explaining that she adopted Angel Grace just minutes before the lockdown began in Los Angeles, which turned out to be perfect timing:

“Otherwise I would be all by myself.”

Outside of this nostalgic reunion, Drescher stars in NBC’s new sitcom Indebted, which airs Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT. Fans of the actress can enjoy seeing her charm in a brand-new role while reminiscing about her classic The Nanny days.
