Who is replacing Scott Forrester on FBI: International?
Who is replacing Scott Forrester on FBI: International? Although we don’t know for sure, the show’s latest casting news has thrilled fans of the Dick Wolf universe.
Just a few hours after news of Kleintank’s departure broke, PEOPLE confirmed that Chicago Med alum Colin Donnell will be joining FBI: International for the final two episodes of Season 3, which will air after Kleintank’s departure on May 14 and May 21. The actor is coming on board as a guest star and it is unclear what role he will play, but the FBI spin-off has already earned a Season 4 renewal, so it’s very possible that he may become Kleintank’s permanent replacement.
The guest role will mark Donell’s first time back on network TV since he left the hit medical drama in 2019. The actor starred as Dr. Connor Rhodes for the first four seasons. A majority of the show’s early storylines revolved around Rhodes and he was beloved by fans. Deadline first broke the news of his departure in April 2019, revealing that Rhodes was written off due to “creative reasons related to the characters’ story evolution.” Following his exit, Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) stepped into the spotlight and became one of the main characters. Gehlfuss later left the show as well, making his final appearance in the Season 8 finale.
Although Donnell has yet to return to primetime, he has kept busy over the years. He appeared in the 2020 Hallmark movie Love on Iceland and the 2021 Hallmark Movies & Mystery film To Catch a Spy. He also had a lead role in. the 2022 Peacock series Irreverent.
Since leaving the show, Donnell has become a dad as well. He and his wife, Broadway star Patti Murin, welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Cecily, in July 2022. They welcomed their second daughter, Lorelai, in April 2023.
In a November 2023 interview with PEOPLE, Donnell revealed that he loves dad life. “It sounds cliché to say, but parenthood changed everything for me, it really has,” he said. “Putting it into the context of work, especially, it’s made me take things simultaneously more seriously and less seriously because on the one hand, I see what I need to do and the type of work that I should be doing to be able to provide for them.” The Arrow alum added: “I cannot imagine my life anymore without being a dad. It’s just.. they’re my world.”
