In a first look of ABC’s “The Golden Bachelorette,” leading lady Joan Vassos reveals that she is looking for a man who is a gentleman, humble, with a big heart and generous. The Golden Bachelorette cooks a meal with her family and dines with them in the promo video, stating how grateful she is for her family’s support throughout the show’s process.
“I’m not here to replace dad,” Vassos said in the video to her kids and family. “I just want our family to be whole again.”
Vassos, who is 61 years old, was named the first leading lady of the series in May 2024, after appearing as a contestant on the first season of “The Golden Bachelor” in September 2023. A school administrator form Rockville, Md, she has four kids and two grandkids, and was widowed after being married for 32 years.
When her daughter Ally asks how she feels about kissing another man besides her late husband on TV, Vassos said she’ll have to “get used to that.”
“I’m going to probably kiss a fair amount of guys on camera,” Vassos said of the reality dating show. “I’m sorry guys.”
Season 21 of “The Bachelorette,” starring Jenn Tran, is airing now. New episodes debut on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET and are available on Hulu the following day.
